The local mountains got around 6 to 1 foot of snow after a winter storm. There was a night last time it snowed up.I am going to go with my girlfriend on Sunday since she has never seen a lot of snow.I want her to be able to see the trees.Do you think it will stay up until Sunday, forcast predicts 39 and that will be on sat.
When it is 20 degrees F out, I have seen snow melt at a rate of inches per day. This was in Colorado. The snow melted when the temperature was below freezing because it was on a hillside facing the sun.It is on a north facing slope that the snow stays very deep and barely melting on 70 degree days.
There will be 8 inches of snow in the trees on the north slopes of the higher elevation if the temperature is 30 degrees or higher.I don't think snow will stay in the trees by Sunday because they are more exposed.
I live on the East Coast in the Mid Atlantic States. We got some snow two weeks ago.The real facts are here.A ruler that measures in inches and feet was taken out.
I started by measuring the snow fall.It takes at least 34 degrees to melt snow.1.5 inches of snow melted when the temperature reached 44.When the temperature was 54 degrees. There was 5 inches of snow.Adding the amount of snow melted and dividing it by the number of entries was how I added up the melted snow.
The snow will last the longest at the highest altitudes. The most likely area to have some remaining is the higher altitudes, with 6 to 12 inches of snow.shaded areas and northward facing slopes have the best chance of remaining covered in snow.
