What is AB540 SB 68?
Signed into law in October 2001, California Assembly Bill 540 (AB 540/SB 68 ) is a bill that provides an exemption to the requirement to pay nonresident tuition. California Community College students who are granted an AB 540/ SB 68 exemption, will be charged in-state tuition and fees, and not the supplemental tuition
Is AB540 the same as DACA?
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Nonresident students with an AB540 exemption will be charged the same tuition rate as resident students. Students who wish to be classified as residents for tuition purposes must first contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) for counseling.
