Do you need to read Maigret books in order?
Generally, no. There is a slight shift towards philosophy as the books have continued over a period of time, also C Inspector Maigret becomes more comfortable and nuanced as he matures. Still, there is no particular order (unlike, say, Sherlock Holmes).
Which Maigret should I read first?
1. Pietr the Latvian: As always, it is my firm belief that the first novel in a series is always the best place to start, and Pietr the Latvian is a really strong book, offering an enticing glimpse into Maigret's Paris and the evil that lurks within.13 Jan 2018
Should Maigret books be read in order?
Simenon, indeed, came up with the idea of Maigret over three glasses of schnapps. Anyway, I commend all the Maigrets to you. Any of them are a good place to start, and there's no need to read them in order, but I do suggest reading them in bulk.15 Aug 2019
