Commodore Business Machines debuted its Commodore 64 back in 1982. It ended up being the best-selling computer in the company's history. Today, one in mint condition could sell for nearly $1,200.
How much did an Amiga 500 cost?

Is AmigaOS Dead?
It would be succeeded by the AmigaOne X5000 and A1222 board by 2020. Despite the odd legal battle here and there, the Amiga has survived through a loyal user base. When new hardware looked like an improbable dream, AmigaOS was modified to run on other platforms.
Are Amiga computers worth anything?
Yes, inspite of the fact that around 5 million of them were sold in their various guises, and lots of them are still in existence, the Amiga is worth money today. The most valuable models don't necessarily relate to power of hardware.

Some wistful geeks are keeping its memory alive in their hearts, and this was the year we discovered that there's still a handful of hardy Amigas that have been running continuously for the last 25 years.
Why did the Amiga die?
The Amiga died because Commodore denied it growth, support or even respect. A group of refugees from companies such as Atari designed the Amiga, and then, needing money for marketing, sold it to Commodore.
Why did the Amiga fail?
Ultimately, Amiga failed due to mismanagement Amigas sold much better in Europe, especially the UK, than they did in the United States. But it wasn't enough, and in the crucial US market, management got it all wrong. Irving Gould deserves most of the blame.
Could Amiga have survived?
Actually the Amiga did survive till today. The X1000 was released just some years ago and the successor the X5000 is I think out in the meanwhile as well or will be shortly (AmigaOne X5000 ). These are PowerPC systems (the same CPU Apple used before they switched to x86).
