How much is it for a shingles shot at Walgreens?

Chicken pox is caused by the same virus that causes shingles. It causes a rash that looks like blisters. The chickenpox virus can be found in your body in either a dormant or inactive stage. You may get shingles if the virus becomes active again.Problems with the immune system may increase your chances of getting shingles.

The shingles rash is usually on one side of the body. The rash is caused by a tingling in the area that leads to a cluster of small red spots.Nerve pain, also called postherpetic neuralgia, can last for months or even years in some people. As the rash heals, the pain is less for most people. There are other symptoms of shingles.Pneumonia, deafness, hearing problems, brain inflammation, and even death are some of the severe consequences in some people.

You can't catch shingles from another person with shingles, but you can catch chicken pox from someone who's never had it.

People 50 years of age and older are more likely to have shingles.More than one million people in the United States get shingles each year.In their lifetime, almost 1 in 3 adults will develop shingles.A small percentage of people may get shingles again.

The shingles vaccine has been shown to reduce the risk of shingles. It can reduce nerve pain caused by shingles.Shingrix® and Zostavax® are currently available.

The CDC recommends that all healthy adults 50 years of age and older receive 2 doses of Shingrix® (recombinant zoster vaccine or RZV) regardless of a past episode of Herpes Zoster or receipt of Zostavax®.If a person is allergic to Shingrix, Zostavax may still be used to prevent shingles in healthy adults 60 years and older.

Shingrix® should be given to adults who previously received two doses of Zostavax. They should wait at least 8 weeks after receiving Zostavax.

It takes 2 to 3 days for side effects to resolve.Certain vaccine related symptoms can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain killers.

Severe allergic reactions are rare.A few minutes to a few hours after vaccination, there may be signs and symptoms.

It is very rare for this vaccine to cause serious harm.Call the doctor if the person has a serious reaction to the vaccine.
