Is Tri-Luma a prescription?
TRI-LUMA Cream is a prescription medicine used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face, in combination with sun avoidance and the use of sunscreens. TRI-LUMA Cream is not for continuous treatment of melasma. It is not known if TRI-LUMA Cream is safe and effective in children.

Can Tri-Luma be used long-term?
Tri-Luma® Cream (fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, hydroquinone 4%, tretinoin 0.05%) is indicated for the short-term (up to 8 weeks) treatment of moderate-to-severe melasma of the face. It is not for long-term use (more than 8 weeks) or for the maintenance of melasma symptoms.
Can Tri-Luma make melasma worse?
Do not apply Tri-Luma more than once a day. Using too much of this medication can irritate your skin and won't give you faster or better results. Melasma gets worse when you are in the sun or exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light.
