How much power does a Chevy 454 V8 have?
You can see roughley 450hp at 5800rpm and 510 to 515 ft.lb of Torque at 3500rpm.I don't know how the older ones are compared to the new 454's.The old style would push roughley the same numbers.
The stock 454 that I pulled out of my 74 truck was pushing a huge amount of power.It was a new motor and had 150,000 miles on it.
It depends on the year, the late sixties 454 stock is about 400hp.
You are correct about the money for the ls6.Without the insurance, it would have been over 500.

Performance 454hp numbers are from performance cars of the 70's.The Chevy C 1500 only had 230hp.The average stock is 250hp.The 1972 net rating system is more realistic but not always dead on.
