Keeping your grill clean is an important part of creating a good meal, whether you are a novice griller or a BBQ pit master.Even if you haven't cleaned your grill all season, a little effort will get it cooking like new again.
Step 1: Go to the grill and turn off the gas supply.
The cleaning process can lead to injury if dangerous gasses build up.The gas supply valve on the propane tank is where the grill connects to the house. To shut off the gas supply, turn the knob or lever clockwise.Remember to close and open valves.
Step 2: The grate should be removed with a wire brush and soapy water.
You can buy grill brushes from your local supermarket with wire bristles, an acrylic scrubber, and a metal scraper. It's easy to clean a grill. For every quart of water, fill a bucket with soapy water made from liquid dish soap.Put the wire brush in the water and scrub the grate.Clean both sides of the grate.
Step 3: Remove the metal plates and coverings from the burners.
The plates help to diffuse the heat to allow for even cooking. You can clean the burner protectors with soapy water.
Step 4: If you have any dirt on the burners, wipe it off.
Use a toothpick to remove objects that may be blocking the flow of gas by checking the holes in the burners. If your grill's burners don't come out easily, you can wipe them clean while they're in place.
Step 5: Remove charred drippings from the grill surface.
The grill's bottom pan can be removed to remove all the debris. If the bottom pan is secured, use a metal spatula or grill scraper to push any burnt scraps through the grease hole and into a trash bag.
Step 6: The grill needs to be cleaned with a soapy sponge.
Once all the chunks are gone, it is a good idea to scrub the bottom with a sponge and soapy water.Food scraps and drippings build up under the grill's burner.Keep an eye on this area and clean it as much as possible.
Step 7: The underside of the lid can be caked on.
To clean the underside of the lid, use the grill scraper and soapy sponge. If you scratch the metal or remove the undamaged paint from the lid, it may lead to rusting.
Step 8: The burner covers should be replaced.
Put everything back in the reverse order you removed it.The grills usually rest in place. To get these items back in their proper location, look for groves or ledges.
Step 9: Fire up the grill by turning on the gas.
You can burn off soap and cleaners on the interior surfaces of the grill by turning it on high and closing the lid for 15 minutes.
Step 10: The burners should be turned off.
Food can stick to the surface if the grate is oiled.Canola oil is used to dip a paper towel. The tongs should be used to rub the towel over the hot grate.
Step 11: Before starting to clean the grill, turn off the gas.
If the gas valve is not closed, the grill will be filled with dangerous flammable gas during the cleaning process.
Step 12: The grill's drip pan needs to be checked and replaced as needed.
There is a disposal pan or cup on most grills.Remove the surface of the pan holder and replace it with a fresh aluminum pie plate or tin can.The grease should be wiped out with paper towels. After removing grease, rinse the pan with soapy water.
Step 13: A bucket is filled with soapy water.
You can make a soapy solution to clean the outside of the grill with dish soap.
Step 14: Rub the exterior surfaces with a rag dipped in soapy water.
The grill needs to be cleaned thoroughly to prevent food bits from clinging to the metal. If you notice drips around the knobs, pay close attention to the areas around them. The side panels should be wiped with soapy water.
Step 15: To wash soap, spray it from a hose.
The outside of your grill should be thoroughly washed after you clean it.
Step 16: Glass or a cleaner can be used to polish the steel.
If your grill has a metal lid, you can use a glass cleaner on the surface and wipe it with a paper towel.
Step 17: Before each use, wash the surface of the grate.
The grill cleaner should be oiled prior to use with an old rag or paper towel dipped in vegetable oil.The tongs should be used to rub the oily towel on the hot grate.
Step 18: After each use, clean the grates with a wire brush.
It's easy to clean the grill grates when they're still hot.Rub the wire bristles along the length of the grate to remove food bits.
Step 19: You should check your gas line.
A small amount of soapy water can be applied to the surface of the gas lines to inspect them.During periods of high usage, this should be done every month. You can apply soapy water to the gas line with a rag or brush. It's a good idea to apply soapy water around the connections and valves.Look for bubbles that indicate gas is leaking.
Step 20: To prevent grimy build up, burn off drippings.
When you grill, heat up the grill without any food present. The burners should be turned on high.If there are drips on the burner protectors, close the lid.Allow the heat to build up inside the grill for a few minutes.
Step 21: The grill should be covered in between uses.
A grill cover protects it from the elements when it isn't being used. The life of your grill can be extended by keeping rain and debris out of it.
