There are some tips that you can use to act around your grandpa.Make the most of the days you have together because he won't be around forever.
Step 1: Have respect for others.
It's important to show respect to everyone, but especially to family members who are older than you.Your grandfather has had a lot of life experience and is very wise.He probably knows more about things than you do.You should take it very seriously and listen to what he has to say.You might not have been born if it wasn't for him.
Step 2: Be nice.
Being nice is a way to show your support. You should use all your manners.Introduce your friend to your Grandpa. Before you play video games, stay and talk for a bit.
Step 3: Speak clearly.
You should be willing to repeat some of your words.People lose hearing as they get older. When you speak to your grandpa, look directly at him.You don't want him to have to keep asking you what you said because it makes it easier to hear you.
Step 4: Talk to someone.
People like to talk and your grandpa is no different. He wants to know how you are thinking about them and what they think.Maybe you don't know what to say.If so, you should ask questions.Ask your grandfather what life was like in the past.Does he have any siblings?Surely he has some good stories to tell.Ask if he remembers funny things in school. What was his first job?He can tell you about a time when he was scared.Ask what he liked to eat as a child. If you can figure out how your grandfather communicated with friends before the internet, that's great.Do you know if he remembers life before cell phones? There are many things to talk about.
Step 5: Write something down.
When you don't remember the stories your Grandpa has told you, take the time to write them down in a journal. You can videotape a conversation with your Grandpa. You will get the information in his words.
Step 6: You should love him with all of your heart.
When he is reading a book, sit next to him.Bring a book to read with you.Join in with the things he likes to do.Ask if you can go fishing with him.If he likes to watch golf, try to figure out the rules and the players so that you can sit and enjoy the game with him once in a while.Take him some of his favorite foods and notice what he likes to eat.Put that station on and find out what he likes to listen to.If you can get him to go for a walk with you, that will be great. Both of you will benefit from exercising.Tomorrow, next week, in 20 years, things will be different and you may not have the chance. You don't know when your grandpa will leave.
Step 7: Help him.
He may not have as much energy as you do.You don't need to worry if you help him wash his car or bring him a glass of water. He should be taught how to use a computer. The age where people are on the other side of the digital divide makes him seem like second nature to you.If you can help him set up a Google Plus account, you will be able to communicate with him when you aren't together.
Step 8: Use common sense.
If you have common sense, you will figure it out.
Step 9: Take pictures of your grandpa.
Hand your phone to someone else and ask them to take pictures of you.Keep those pictures. As time goes by, they will become more important to you.One day, you'll be happy to have those pictures, and your Grandpa will be proud that you want to take pictures of him.
