How To Activate a Verizon Cell Phone

During the initial setup for your phone, it's a good idea to have it activated.The last four digits of the social security number associated with the account will be required.You can bring your own phone from the "Bring Your Own Phone" section of your account page.

Step 1: You can use the power on your new phone.

There is a power button.You will be taken to the Activation screen after the initial startup.

Step 2: You should confirm your phone number.

On the page, this will be displayed.You can proceed if it matches your expectations.

Step 3: Next, tap.

Step 4: The password is for the billing account.

You can enter the last four digits of the social security number associated with the account instead.

Step 5: You can tap next.

Step 6: Wait for your phone to be activated.

If you get a sim card error, make sure you have the correct one in your phone.

Step 7: Proceed with the setup.

Step 8: You can use the power on your phone.

On the right is the power button.

Step 9: You can open iTunes on your computer.

You need to be running version 10.7 or later.You can check for updates in the App Store or download the latest version for Windows.Close all other applications on your computer if you are having trouble running iTunes.

Step 10: Attach the iPhone to your computer.

Step 11: The social security number can be entered with the last 4 digits.

You will be prompted for the last four digits of your SSN on the account information page.

Step 12: Click Continue.

Step 13: Continue with the setup.

You can either restore information from an iTunes backup or set up the iPhone as a new device.If you choose to setup as a new device, you can find more information.

Step 14: You can power your device.

Before you use a used device, make sure to insert your own sim card.

Step 15: You can select a language.

Step 16: Next, tap.

The button is in the lower right.

Step 17: Now you can tap on it.

The button may appear as Next.Automatic activation begins.You will be prompted for account information if you don't.

Step 18: You can power off your device.

If it's necessary, your old device will be turned off.You have to wait several seconds for the device to finish deactivating.

Step 19: If prompted, enter the password of the billing account.

You can enter the last four digits of the social security number associated with the account instead.

Step 20: The initial device setup needs to be completed.

You will be asked to setup various accounts to use your device.You can use the Skip option on each page to read it later.Your phone is ready to use.

Step 21: Make sure that your device is compatible.

In your browser, go to https://www.verizonwireless.com/bring-your-own-device.The page shows you how to locate and verify the information on your device to see if it will work with the network.

Step 22: You can navigate to the website at https://www.verizonwireless.com/vzw/browse/devicechange/ home.jsp.

If you don't already log in, you will be prompted for a password.

Step 23: A device can be activated on an existing line.

There is a list of devices on your account.

Step 24: The device can be activated by clicking the line.

Step 25: You can choose Yes or No.

If this device has been used on your account before, choose Yes.You can choose No.

Step 26: If no, enter your device ID.

The first step is mirrored by the page for this selection.You can proceed if your device is compatible.

Step 27: You can choose another phone on your account.

If no other phone line exists on your account or is active, you will need to contact customer service to complete the switch.

Step 28: Text me the code.

The authorization code will be sent after a few moments.

Step 29: The code can be entered from the text message.

The Online Authorization Code field is where this information goes.

Step 30: Click confirm.

You will be asked to confirm the card's compatibility.You can skip the next step if you don't have a sim card or know it's compatible.If you don't have one, you will need to purchase one in order to use your phone.

Step 31: Enter your phone number.

If you click on the instructions, you will be able to locate this information.

Step 32: Click on the ID you want to check.

Step 33: If prompted, select an equipment protection option.

If you have recently upgraded, you will see this options.

Step 34: Click to confirm.

Step 35: If prompted, choose a compatible service plan.

If the device is not compatible with your current plan, this option will not appear.

Step 36: Click to confirm feature and plan changes.

The device activation is complete.

Step 37: If you don't have a sim card, buy one.

You will need a card in order to use the 4G network.You can get one from the website or by calling the Customer Service line.

Step 38: You can get your device's IMEI number.

If you want to get the IMEI number for your phone, dial *#06#.During the activation process, you may be prompted for this number.

Step 39: Call to speak with a person.

Your phone can be activated by the customer service rep if you have this number.You may need to show that you are the account holder.

Step 40: Visit a store.

Your phone should be activated by most customer service reps in a few moments.Let the employee know that you need to purchase a new sim card if you don't already have one.
