Staying physically active as a teen can improve general health and development, as well as reduce stress, boost confidence, and help build friends.Being active isn't just about playing sports, it's about moving your body in many different waysTeens can find the time and motivation to stay active by incorporating exercise into an already existing daily routine.
Step 1: Limit the use of electronics.
Limit screen time to two hours a day to find more time in your day.Do you like to watch a TV show?If you want to incorporate exercise, stand up while you watch or do push ups during commercial breaks.
Step 2: Exercise should be incorporated into school.
Teens spend most of their day at school so finding 60 minutes a day for exercise is difficult.You can use your time at school to move your body.Walk or ride your bike to and from school.If you sign up for gym class at school, you will be able to kill two birds with one stone.If you want to study for school at home, ask your teacher to let you get up and move.
Step 3: You should incorporate exercise into your life responsibilities.
Why don't you waste time outside of school?You can choose jobs or chores that will get you up and moving.If you want to double down on your chores, you can rake the lawn for an hour.You can become a camp counselor if you choose a job that will help you stay active.Limit time sitting as well.Teens spend most of their days sitting at school, so it is important to move around during the rest of the time.You can take a walk with your family after dinner if you use a standing desk.
Step 4: Break working out.
Are the 60 minutes of exercise done slowly?Is it hard to find an entire hour that isn't taken up by other activities?You will have no excuse for not staying active if you break your exercise hour up into three chunks of 20 minutes each.Devote at least 20 minutes before school, after school and before bed.
Step 5: Go alone.
If you prefer some down time with your own thoughts, you should join a gym, take up running, or stream workout videos from the internet.If you are new to exercising, working out in your own home removes the stress of worrying about what other people think.
Step 6: Join up with a class or team.
If you want to catch up on exercise with your friends, sign up for classes such as cycling or yoga.Your body and mind will thank you for joining a sports team, such as gymnastics or soccer, where you can move and make new friends.If you want to play, try out a club team.You can make new friends in teen only classes at some fitness centers.

If you are new to exercise, weight training is a good way to get started.Before starting a weight regime, make sure you consult with a qualified adult.You can start weight training without a gym membership or fancy equipment.Resistance bands, hand weights, or your own body can be used for sit ups.
Step 8: Take new classes to think outside the box.
Exercising doesn't have to be boring.Take part in physical activities that are more unusual, such as trampoline classes or Bollywood dancing.It will give you something to look forward to when you try something new.
Step 9: Something to do outside.
Many teens and adults play outside by doing outdoor activities and exercising.Pick things you like to do, get active, and enjoy the fresh air!Do you enjoy nature?You can take a walk through the woods, park, or local trail.If you want to see nature up close, try hiking or rock climbing.Do you like sports?It's a good idea to have a game with friends or family.Start a soccer or flag football game.You can find a rink for skating or a game of shinny in the winter.Bike riding is a great activity outdoors.You can ride alone or in a group and go at your own pace.Don't forget to wear a helmet.
Step 10: Work out with your video games.
Can you not play your video games?Choose to play games that will get you up on your feet, such as dancing or sport games.

A trip to an amusement park, zoo, or national park is something to look forward to.You will have fun and stay active.
Step 12: Compete in a competitive run.
It will get your heart pumping if you beat your expectations or win a competition.Get dirty by running in a mud race and setting a goal time or mileage.If you want to avoid injury, gradually increase distance and intensity.You can hold yourself accountable by sharing your fitness goals on social media.
Step 13: You can volunteer to do something.
If you volunteer to help coach a team for smaller children or pick up trash in a park, you will get those feel good vibes going.There are volunteer activities where you will be on your feet.
