How To Avidemux is a video editing tool.

It runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS X and is free to use.A lot of file types are supported by Avidemux.It's a powerful tool but not user-friendly.This guide will show you how to use some of the basic video editing functions.

Step 1: Take a look at the initial video clip.

Click on the file to open it.Click on the first video that you want to open.The rest of the converted video files will be joined automatically if you open the main VOB file.The main VOB file is usually VTS_01.vob.

Step 2: The second clip should be added at the end.

Select Append when you click the file.You can add the file to the end of the first clip.The width, height, and framerate of the second file must be the same as the original one.

Step 3: Add more clips.

The same method can be used to add clips to the end of the file.

Step 4: Determine your starting point.

The navigation bar at the bottom of the video can be used to find the start of a clip that you want to remove.The starting point for the cut can be set by pressing the A button in the menu.

Step 5: The end point should be set.

The end point of the cut can be set by moving the navigation bar further down the line.The end point of the cut can be set by pressing the B button.The section will be highlighted when the clip is removed.

Step 6: The segment needs to be deleted.

The highlighted segment should be deleted if you are satisfied with the selection.You can cut the segment if you want to paste it elsewhere.

Step 7: You can choose a preset.

If you have a specific device that you want the video to be compatible with, click the Auto menu and select it from the list of preset devices.The settings will be configured automatically.Continue to the following steps if your device is not on the list.

Under the Video Output section, click the pulldown menu and choose the audio format that you prefer.Two of the most popular codecs are AC3 and AAC.

Step 10: Pick your format.

Select the format you want the file to be from the pulldown menu in the Output Format section.One of the preferred formats for PC use is the mp4 format.

Step 11: The file size of the video should be changed.

The final file size can be adjusted by clicking the calculator button in the top row of icons.You can set the "Custom size" field to the size you want the file to be.The size requirement will cause the video's bitrate to be changed.Smaller videos will end up with larger files.

Step 12: The Video Output section has a Filters button.

You can change the look of your final video with a variety of filters.The following steps outline some of the more popular options.

Step 13: Your video can be transformed.

You can change the way the video is displayed with the transform category of filters.Adding borders to the video is one of the things you can do.The resolution of the final video can be adjusted using the "SwSResize" filter.You can either use percentage or the actual size of the video.You can cut out the edges of your video with the crop filter.To find out how much you want to cut off, double-click it.The "Fade" filter can be used to fade in and out of a video.To set the time in the video that you want to start the fade at, double-click it.

Step 14: The colors should be adjusted.

The colors category can be used to adjust saturation, hue, and more.To get a really unique looking color scheme for your video, stack multiple filters.

Step 15: You can add subtitles.

If you have a subtitle file for your video, you can add it to the video using the SSA filter.There are subtitles on the screen.

Step 16: You should get more filters.

Community members can make custom filters.The filters can be downloaded from the websites.Click the "Load filters" button if you want to add it to the list.

Step 17: Go to Output mode.

The Output button in the top row of icons has an arrow pointing to the right edge of the screen.This will switch your display to the final version of your video, where you can review the filters and changes you have made.The Output version of the video can be watched by pressing the Play button.

Step 18: Press Save.

Press the Save button in the top row of icons if you want to save from the file menu.Pick where you want to save the file to.

Step 19: Wait for the end result.

You can save the video by clicking on the Save button.This can take a long time depending on how much you are doing.Once the video is finished, open it in your media player to watch it.
