Step 1: For your style of interest, join a dojo.

There is a big difference between Traditional styles of fighting which focus on Katas and preserving the history of the art form with some minor point system sparring, these are beautiful and artful styles which are to be respected, but not used.Functional styles of fighting which are meant to defend yourself in life or death situations, or to take control of a given situation when necessary where you will train rigorously and to the point of physical and mental exhaustion against other people of different builds, with little to no rules other than that you respect yourThe people that attend these dojos are the most nice people you will ever meet, people like you who want to be a good fighter.You will get hurt, whoever hurt you will apologize profusely, and you'll be stronger for it.If your dojo isn't like this, look for another one.Fighters don't talk smack or disrespect one another.

Step 2: When you fight, have honor and pride in your heart.

If you defeat someone in the street, you should be respected.Don't be sarcastic or offensive and make sure they are ok.Offer to buy them a drink or get some food, tell them about your dojo and the positive effect it has on you, and suggest that they join so you can have more matches together, even if they were a pushover.As a fighter, it's important to spread respect and a positive attitude to people around you, especially your enemies, and especially if you just knocked them out.Winning a fight on the street will only bring you and the people you love misfortune.You have lost your identity if you succumb to their antics.You are the stronger individual if you make them play your game.Who knows if you can save a life or make a friend.A fighter doesn't know someone until he fights with them.It's possible that the jerk you knocked out at the bar will turn out to be your best friend.Traditional styles can be deadly to an untrained opponent if taught correctly.Don't take the fight to the ground, whatever you do.It is only useful against one opponent in a secure area.If you are doing a fancy choke hold in the street, his friends will beat you down.Striking arts such as Taekwondo and Karate are useful against multiple opponents or against someone with a knife.The styles focus on conditioning your body to receive blows.An average person can't fight someone who trains to fight.

Step 4: Eat right!

You will need to consume more calories if you are training to fight on top of your responsibilities.Fighters consume 6000 calories a day.If you can't afford to eat solid meals with lots of vegetables, be careful about the intensity of your training.Don't over-exert yourself!Instead of 3 big meals, try to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day.Buy bulk bars and drink a lot of water.

Step 5: There is a train at home.

Things to improve on are where you made mistakes in your sparring or fights and you have lost.Think of ways to improve the scenario and angle.Shadowboxing is not boxing and can be done to perfect your moves for any style.Good shadowboxing can translate to good form and style in a fight.To keep an idea of your range relative to your stance, try to use a wall or bag.Train for all possible encounters in and out of the ring.While walking around outside, think about what could be used as a weapon and what materials are around you that could help you defend yourself.It's never a good idea to get backed into a corner.Should you be surprised, do not form habits of walking near ledges, curbs or anything that could send you off balance.

Step 6: It's possible to find a local venue.

Have you been training for a few months, are in good shape, and have a good understanding of how to fight?It's time to take on other fighters at a local venue.You will be surprised that most communities have them.Learn to improve where it counts by testing your skills.You should be happy that you found some things to work on when you lose.A fighter would be bored if he won every match easily.

Step 7: Never give up.

You will experience a lot of injuries in your training.You will wake up one day and discover that you are a great fighter.You will have to fight as you become stronger than most people if you want to control people.You will not understand why people of authority have authority over you when you want to be in charge.Do not allow people to push you around and do not go around looking for a fight either.You have failed yourself and everyone who has trained you if you succumb to this.As well as being strong physically, be strong mentally.
