When you die in Counter-Strike, you're out for the rest of the round. The task of staying alive is more important than normal death match games. The opposing team can be an easy target. You don't want to be easy to hit in the 1 vs. 1 fight. They apply to both Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike: Source.
Step 1: Don't stay in one place during gunfights.
Move from side to side, strafe around and fire short shots at the enemy's head when you stop. It's not a good idea to stay in one place for a long time during fights, it will make you an easy target.
Step 2: If you surprise an enemy from the front, be mobile and try to get around them.
Dance back and forth, jump on top of them, do whatever it takes to avoid the gunfire, even switch to your pistol to increase your movement speed temporarily.
Step 3: It's easier to outrun them when you're close to them.
You can run around them quicker. You canstrafe 1 if you circle 5 yards.
Step 4: When your enemy is reloading, shooting, and bursting, you move and shoot at them.
Know how to fight back.A single stab in the back can take tens of points off their health.
Step 5: You are fair game for a lot of things if you are out in the open.
Move back and forth between cover and burst shooting. They can't figure you out if you change your pattern.
Step 6: Make sure you have a retreat point when the other team starts rolling out the smokes and flashes.
You don't want to be out where they can pick you off when they kick in the front door after they flash you. It's important that your retreat point isn't too obvious.Keeping mobile is important when you can't find a retreat point. When you stop, crouch and run back and forth.
Step 7: If you stick with your team, you're less likely to die.
It's easier to take on a threat if you have people watching you. It's important to make sure you're going with the right group.Make sure to stick with the more experienced players, because you can't count on a squad of n00bs to watch your back.
Step 8: Don't be foolish.
If you run away from everything, it will come down to either you or the other team.
Step 9: Help your team-mates.
Your team will last longer and keep you alive as a benefit. There will be a lot of team kills aimed at you in the coming rounds if you cheap out on your team.
Step 10: You should know the maps that you play.
Step 11: Be ready for anything.
You will be less likely to be surprised if you keep an eye on the enemy's movements and tactics.
Step 12: You can shoot 3 bullets at a time with an m4a1 without a silencer.
