Hamsters are easy to care for.hamsters need toys that keep them busy and active. You can make your own toys for little to no cost using household items.Your hamster will have fun playing with the toys you make.
Step 1: Pick up several popsicle sticks.
The number of popsicle sticks you need depends on how tall you want the ladder to be.
Step 2: Remove the popsicle sticks from your mouth.
It is difficult for your hamster to walk on the ladder if the food is sticky. The popsicle sticks should be dry.
Step 3: Use non-toxic glue to glue popsicle sticks together.
It is important to use non-stick glue because your hamster may eat some of the glue. You don't want your hamster to get sick from eating a piece of his toy.Allow the glue to dry completely.
Step 4: The cage has a ladder in it.
There is a place where you can place the ladder. You can put the ladder on the bottom of the cage to lead to another toy.The ladder can be used as a bridge between toys.
Step 5: You will need materials to make a tunnel.
You will need several empty toilet paper tubes, bedding, some small cardboard boxes, and a cutting instrument (knife, scissors, box cutter). You won't be able to see your hamster when he's inside the tunnel because the boxes are not transparent.Trust that he is having fun even if you can't see him.
Step 6: The cardboard boxes have holes in them.
The toiler paper tubes will go through these holes. To make sure that the holes you cut are the correct size, it may be helpful to first trace the outline of the tube onto the box.
Step 7: The toilet paper tubes should be put in the holes.
If the tubes don't fit into the holes, make them bigger. It is difficult for your hamster to walk through the tubes if they are forced into the holes. The tubes should be secured with non-toxic glue.
Step 8: Put bedding in the tunnel.
This will make it more difficult for your hamster to play in the tunnel.Even though the tunnel will be covered with bedding, leave an open end where your hamster can gain easy access to it.
Step 9: You will need the materials.
To make a two-story hamster house, you will need two empty tissue boxes, a pair of scissors, ruler, non-toxic glue, several empty toilet paper tubes, and several small pieces of cloth.Square boxes are better for the house.
Step 10: The tissue boxes have plastic openings.
It will be easier for your hamster to go through the openings if the plastic is removed.
Step 11: Attach the boxes together by stacking them on top of each other.
The upper and lower levels of the house can be created by stacking the boxes on top of each other. The top opening of each box should be facing to the right or left. The openings should not be on opposite sides of the house.
Step 12: Measure the distance from the top opening to the floor using a ruler.
You can determine the length of tube you will need to create a walkway up to the upper level by measuring this distance.
Step 13: The toilet paper tubes could be used to create a walkway.
To make a walkway from the lower to the upper level, you may need to place several toilet paper tubes within one another. If necessary, use non-toxic glue to attach the tubes.Attach cloth to the walkway with non-toxic glue. The cloth will help your hamster walk up and down the tube.If you make the incline too steep, your hamster will have trouble walking up or down the tube.
Step 14: The opening of the second floor box is secured.
Attach the walkway to the second floor box using non-toxic glue. When the hamster walks up or down the tube, the walkway needs to be secured.Cut the bottom of the opening into a straight line if it is rounded.
Step 15: Take a few empty toilet paper tubes.
The more complicated the maze, the more tubes you will need.
Step 16: Place the tubes together.
Don't force the tubes to fit into each other in order to maintain the shape.
Step 17: Attach the tubes with glue.
You want to make sure that the type of glue you use won't make the hamsters sick.
Step 18: There are rows of tubes in the cage.
The shape of the maze will be created by this. The maze will be more challenging for your hamster if you are more creative with the directions. If you put the maze outside of your hamster's cage, make sure he doesn't escape or hurt himself. The materials you can use to create a maze include empty shoe boxes, cylindrical oatmeal boxes and wrapping paper tubes.
Step 19: There is a treat at the end of the maze.
The scent of the maze will make them want to speed through it to get to the treat.
Step 20: You can make an obstacle course by gathering together items.
Paper cups, toilet paper tubes, small toy cars, and building blocks can be used to make an obstacle course. If your hamster eats the paint on the small toy cars, it could make him sick.If you see him getting closer to the cars, remove them.
Step 21: There is a large open area.
Outside of your hamster's cage, there is an open area on the floor. You could use your tub or box.Line the bathtub with a towel. The towel will help your hamster in the obstacle course.
Step 22: There are treats in the obstacle course.
The scent of the treat will make your hamster move faster.
Step 23: Keep an eye on your pet.
You want to make sure that he doesn't eat any of the obstacles that could make him sick.
