Some wiccans and other neo-pagans cast sacred circles inside which rituals are performed. As a portal to the realm of the spirits and deities, the circle acts as a protection from evil forces and a psychological tool to put you in the right state of mind.Read on if you want to learn more about casting a circle.
Step 1: You should find a safe place to cast your circle.
At midnight, noon, or early in the morning, it can be indoors or outdoors.Don't feel pressured to hike out to the middle of nowhere if that will make you uncomfortable, there's no perfect place to cast.It is the best place for you to be able to feel comforted and at ease, and in the right way for whatever ritual or ceremony you want to perform. So be it if it's your bedroom, basement, or garage. As long as you need the ceremony, make sure the place is private and free.Being interrupted in the middle of a ritual is dangerous.
Step 2: Go to the place where you will cast your circle.
Make your location orderly by tidying it up.Clear the area if you're outside.Next is to cleanse the area.If your practice involves brooms or wand, use your hands to push the negative energy from the spot.A couple of drops in each corner of the room should suffice to cleanse the area.
Step 3: If you want, you can physically determine the boundaries of your circle.
If you want to do this, you can draw a circle on the floor, sprinkle salt water in it, or tie a cord around it.The circle is usually as wide as you are.The elements of nature can be used to create a circle. If it seems appropriate, create a circle of rocks or other natural elements.
Step 4: All of the objects will be used in the ritual.
Once you start practicing, you will want to stay in the circle and not break the connection until your ritual is complete.Getting up and hitting "pause" isn't an option if you forget a candle or Totem that's important to you.Prepare for your ritual by gathering everything you'll need.If you are going to give something to a spirit, make sure to include everything you need to prepare it.Totems, black candles, crystals, knives, bells, bowls of salt and water are popular items to include in rituals. To form an altar, organize them, whatever they are.Set them on a surface like a box or crate with a small black tablecloth. When you're in the circle completing your ritual, the altar should face north.
Step 5: You have to complete the circle.
At each direction, put candles or other items.Do not light them yet.Water in the west is one of the things that will be chosen by some wiccans.Follow procedures that are appropriate for your rituals.Earth could be represented by salt, a stone, or a candle. There are things that could stand in for Air.A blue candle for water is a fine representation of water in a receptacle.A cigarette is good for Fire.If you have one, you could use it in your deck.
Step 6: Thank the circle.
How you choose to use your circle is up to you and your goals. You should start invocation of spirits by blessing the space and clearing it of negative energy. Some covens are very formal in their practices.Do what feels natural.Walk around the circle, lighting candles and leaving a trail of salt."Blessing upon the creatures and spirits of the North" can be said in each direction.
Step 7: The purpose of the circle should be stated.
To keep the evil spirits out, walk around the circle three times. The Circle of Power should be a meeting place of love and joy and truth, a shield against all evil, and a rampart that protects the power that we have.
Step 8: You want to work with elements and spirits.
Call the objects that represent them.Take the objects that represent the elements around your circle and fill it with their power.Take a few moments to meditate. It might be the main act, or it might just be a way to shift your consciousness.
Step 9: You have to complete your ritual.
Do what you will.Cut a doorway if you have to leave the circle.Imagine a doorway being cut from the edge of the circle, up, to the side, then down again.Once you're back in, close the circle.
Step 10: When you're done, close the circle.
Pay respect to whatever deities you invited, thank the elements before removing their representative objects, and finally cast in reverse.
