How To Change the Ink Cartridge in an HP Envy 5000
You can learn how to install a new black or color ink cartridge in your HP Envy 5000-series printer.
Step 1: Make sure your printer is running.
No parts will move while you are changing the ink because the printer will detect when the door is open.
Step 2: The ink cartridge access door needs to be lifted.
The lid is located above the display.Wait for the carriage to stop.
Step 3: The printer needs to be removed from the machine.
Lift up the plastic lid and pull the item out of the slot.If you're replacing the black and color ink, it's a good idea to remove both of them now.You could stain yourself if you touch the ink nozzles.If you look at a black dot, the ink inside is black.
Step 4: The new ink should be removed from the packaging.
Make sure you only touch the black plastic part of the cartridge when taking the ink out of its packaging.
Step 5: Remove the orange sticker from the new cartridge.
Don't touch the copper contacts underneath.
Step 6: The appropriate slot is where the cartridge should be.
There is a light purple lid on the left for the tri-colored cartridge, and a black lid to the right for black.Make sure the ink nozzle is facing the back of the printer.Lift the colored lid if you need to, but make sure you close it again when you're done.
Step 7: The ink access door needs to be closed.

Step 8: Touch the printer's control panel.
You will be asked to confirm the changes by the printer.Instructions for completing the alignment process and an alignment page will be printed by your printer once confirmed.Load some now if the printer doesn't have any paper.
