It doesn't have to be boring to clean your pasta maker. After each use, take a few minutes to clean your machine. You just need a small brush and a few clean cloths.
Step 1: Remove any parts from the pasta machine.
A few pieces can be easily removed from most pasta machines.Attach the C-clamp to the side, like for different types of pasta. The main part of the machine that needs to be cleaned is the rollers.Unless you need to do some kind of mechanical repair, you shouldn't have to disassemble your pasta machine.
Step 2: Run a piece of clay through rollers.
Play-Doh can be used for the same effect if you don't have polymer clay. The piece of clay needs to be moved up and down the rollers so that it gets cleaned. The dough, flour, and crumbs will get caught in the clay.If you use your pasta machine for clay work, run a piece of white clay through the machine several times after using different colors. This will help keep the rollers clean.
Step 3: Clean the crevices of the machine with a brush or compressed air.
The pasta maker has small cracks that can easily get caught in flour and dough.Chances are that your pasta maker came with a small brush that can easily get into those cracks. To clear those parts, use a can of compressed air.The space where the rollers touch the machine is the most likely to have build-up, so give them extra attention.
Step 4: The rollers need to be cleaned with a damp cloth.
If you want to slowly turn the hand crank, you need to wipe down the top of the rollers and then move the cloth back and forth over them.Rub the cloth back and forth over the rollers to make sure they are clean.A baby wipe or a wet wipe can be used. There is usually not a need for hard scrubbing when this process is done with a light hand.
Step 5: Use a damp, clean cloth to wipe down the exterior of the machine.
If you aren't using a baby wipe or wet wipe, make sure to wring out the cloth well so that it's not dripping wet.To clean the pasta maker's exterior, run it over it.Give smudges or fingerprints a quick rub with the cloth to clear them away.
Step 6: Before putting the machine away, dry it off completely.
To dry off the pasta maker's exterior, use a soft, clean towel.A towel that does not carry a lot of lint is a good choice. If you use the dry cloth, the smudges will come away very easily.
Step 7: Before you clean your pasta maker, read the user's manual.
Most pasta maker models come with instructions on how to maintain them.If you want to know the ins and outs of your pasta maker, read through the manual.
Step 8: The pasta maker should be unplugged from the outlet.
Do not clean your pasta machine if it is still plugged in.If the machine got wet in the wrong place while you were cleaning it, you could be in danger of electrocution.Move the pasta maker cord far away from the sink if you are cleaning it.
Step 9: The dishwasher has dishwasher-safe parts.
If the pasta maker's parts are made of plastic, they can be put through the dishwasher. The pasta maker's body should not be put in the dishwasher.Don't put the parts through the dishwasher. If you wash them by hand, they will stay in better shape.
Step 10: If parts of the machine are not dishwasher-safe, hand wash them.
It is recommended that parts made of copper, brass, bronze, and aluminum be hand-washed.To quickly wipe down the parts, use dish soap, warm water, and a soft, clean cloth. It's important to keep the parts of the machine dry.Certain metals can be damaged by wetness and dampness.
Step 11: To clean the machine's body, wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Get a soft cloth wet and wring it out.To clean off flour and bits of dough, run it over the pasta maker's exterior. To dry the machine, use a second cloth. If there are tough stains on the pasta machine, spray it with a little bit of all-purpose cleaner and scrub them with the soft cloth.
