You love your sneakers, but you don't like how dirty they are.Don't panic! You can clean your Chucks with household cleaning supplies.
Step 1: You should get your cleaning supplies.
Whether you want to deep clean your Chucks so they look brand new, or you're just trying to get some major stains out, you can do it with a few simple cleaning supplies. You should get stain removal, laundry detergent, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, and a Magic Eraser. If you want to lay out your shoes, you can use hand towels or rags.Don't use bleach in your cleaning supplies.Even if you have a white pair of All Stars, you want to avoid any chemicals that can stain your shoes.
Step 2: A solution of soap and water is needed.
If you want to see bubbles, fill a bucket with warm water and add soap. You can fill your sink or bathtub with soapy water if you don't have a bucket.Adding hydrogen peroxide will give you extra cleaning power.
Step 3: The shoelaces should be removed.
You can clean your laces by removing them from your Chucks. It will be easier to scrub the tongue and shoes with this.Put the laces aside on a towel or rag.
Step 4: Let the mud or dirt dry.
It is easiest to let the mud dry off before you try to clean your shoes. It will be easier to remove dry mud from your shoes if you use this method. If you soak or scrub your shoes with a lot of mud on them, it will make it harder to remove stains.Put your shoes together to remove mud.Dry mud can be removed with a toothbrush or bristle brush.
Step 5: The washing machine should be filled with similar colored fabrics.
If you want to protect your washing machine and prevent your shoes from banging around, you should put some clothes or towels in it.If you fill the washing machine too high, your shoes won't get the full effect of the machine. If your shoes affect old clothes or fabrics, it is advisable to only use them.
Step 6: Put your All Stars in a solution of soapy water.
The hydrogen peroxide and soap can sink into the canvas fabric if you let your Chucks sit for a few minutes. After your shoes have soaked, lay the Chucks on a towel. The majority of your shoes are canvas which is a type of cotton. If you have bike grease on your sneakers, you can add some baby powder or hair spray with alcohol to your shoes and let it set before soaking.
Step 7: Put a rag into the water and scrub the fabric.
If you have lighter stains on your shoes, start scrubbing with a rag.If the rag isn't working, use a toothbrush or bristle brush. To get deeper into the fabric, scrub in small circular motions. You can use a stain removal stick to clean the problem areas of your shoes like you would a shirt or pants. You can use your Magic Eraser on the canvas and rubber parts of your sneakers to remove stains.
Step 8: The rubber part of the sneakers needs to be cleaned.
Depending on how long you have had your sneakers and how much wear there is, you may not be able to clean the rubber completely. If you are hitting a tough spot where the rubber may be scratched or stained by bike grease, you should grab a toothbrush, a cup of water and baking soda.As an extra measure, scrub at the tough areas of the rubber. There are rubber strips on the bottom of your shoes. The rubber could break if you scrub too hard.
Step 9: Put your laces into a bottle.
You can clean your shoelaces by soaking them, but you run the risk of ruining the plastic tips making it harder to thread your laces back into your shoes. If you want to keep the tips intact, you have to remove the spray bottle and put your laces in.For about a minute, let the laces sit in the solution. For 30 seconds, shake the bottle.Since the lid won't be screwed on completely with your laces hanging out, some liquid will probably leak out.Remove your laces, wipe them down, and lay them out to dry.
Step 10: Put your shoes in the washing machine.
You don't need a mesh washing bag if you put your shoes in one.The bag will keep your shoes from bouncing around.Put your shoes between your clothes and fabrics for extra padding. If you want to prevent color bleeding, set your machine to a gentle cycle and use cold water.
Step 11: The All Stars should be dry.
It is best to dry your sneakers indoors so that you don't see a fade in color from overexposure to sunlight. The All Stars should sit in a place that is warm and dry. After the washing machine, you may have to change your sneakers. To mold your shoes back in place, bend the rubber and canvas with your hands.Put your shoes on a towel that is flat.
