How To Clean Eyeglasses Frames

Your eye doctor probably told you how important it is to keep your glasses clean. You should also learn how to care for the frames, even if they have shown you how. Most eyeglass frames are made from plastic or metal, so they're easy to wash up.If your nose pads and frames are looking cloudy, you can deep- clean them.

Step 1: Put your hands in a container of soapy water.

You can transfer dirt, lotion, and natural oils from your hands to your glasses. The dirt particles can scratch your frames. To prevent this, wash your hands thoroughly.Next, wash and dry your hands.Don't wash your hands with soapy water. The water removes dirt from your hands. You can wash your hands with a non-moisturizing soap. You can get oils on your frames if you use moisturizing soaps.

Step 2: You can wash your glasses with warm water and put dish soap on them.

Dust is removed from the surface of the frames by running the glasses under water.Once the glasses are wet, squirt a single drop of basic liquid dish soap on each lens.Don't use a dish soap that leaves a greasy or oily smell.

Step 3: Rub the soap over the frames with your fingers.

To create a lather, massage the soap over the frames.Rub the frames with this lather.Since the bridge of the nose might be greasy, you should spend a little more time cleaning it.

Step 4: Warm water should be run over the glasses.

You can rinse off soap and dirt by holding the frames under the water. To rinse the hinges, fold in the sides of the frames. You don't want to get the clean frames soapy again if you rinse your hands well.

Step 5: The glasses should be dry with a clean cloth.

Rub a microfiber cloth or soft fabric over the frames.Don't use a tissue or paper towel since they could scratch your glasses. It's a good idea to clean your glasses every now and then.Try to do it at least once a day.

Step 6: The toothbrush should be dipped in soapy water.

Liquid soap can be squirted into a small bowl or dish to make a soapy solution.Put about 4 cup of warm water in a container with an old toothbrush and make a sudsy solution.Try to use a brush with soft bristles since they are more gentle on the nose pads.

Step 7: The soapy toothbrush should be rubbed over the nose pads.

Rub the toothbrush on the nose pads.If you have metal wires connecting your nose pads to the bridge of the frame, make sure to scrub them.Don't rub the toothbrush over your glasses because the brush could scratch them.

Step 8: You can rinse the nose pads with water and then dry them with a soft cloth.

To get rid of soap and gunk, hold the nose pads under water.Clean the nose pads with a cloth. The nose pads should be dry before you wear your frames.Condensed air can be sprayed on the pads until they are dry.

Step 9: If you can't clean the nose pads, get the frames cleaned.

If the nose pads have an unpleasant smell even after you've cleaned them, you should take them in for a professional cleaning. While you wait in the lobby, most optometrist offices won't charge for a quick cleaning.

Step 10: A coin-sized amount of polish or oil can be applied to a soft cloth.

Get rid of your plastic frames that look dull or covered in white film and put them on a work surface.A small amount of furniture lubricating polish or oil can be squirted onto a clean cloth.

Step 11: The cloth should be rubbed over the frames.

Rub the polish or oil onto the frames with gentle pressure. You have to keep moving the cloth to coat the frames. If your frames were covered with a white film that was normal wear, you may need to apply extra polish or oil.

Step 12: For 2 to 3 minutes, let the polish or oil sit on the frames.

This allows the oil or polish to work deeper into the plastic so it lasts longer.lubricating oil can get into the hinges and make them bend easier. If you're in a hurry, you can skip this step, but your frames might not have as good of a shine.

Step 13: To clean the frames, wipe them with a dry cloth.

Rub the entire surface of the frames with a soft cloth.Rub your hands to pick up excess oil or polish that won't come off when you touch your frames. If your frames are looking dull or cloudy, you can polish them.
