How To Clean Gas Burners

The various parts of a gas stove make it hard to clean them, but it's not as hard as you might think.A commercial oven cleaning spray is the easiest way to clean your burners. If you have grease on the burners, you can wash them with a soapy solution.Ammonia can help break the grease down and make the burners clean again.Your stove will look great once you finish.

Step 1: Remove the grate from your stove and put it in your sink.

Lift the burners with both hands by grabbing the grate. The stove you have will affect the number of grates. You can wash the grates in your sink if you put them there. Some grates are made of interlocking pieces.Lifting the grate next to it will help you pick up the grates.

Step 2: Leave the grates in the oven for 25 minutes.

Grease stains can be broken down with the help of oven cleaning spray.Press the button on the spray can to apply a generous coating of the cleaner. The cleaner should sit on the grate for 25 minutes to loosen the grease. You can get oven cleaning spray at grocery stores.Don't breathe in the fumes since they can irritate your lungs. If you don't want to use an oven cleaner, sprinkle a powdered cleanser on the grate and scrub them with steel wool.Use a rounded butter knife to remove anything that is still stuck on.

Step 3: Put the oven cleaner on the stove and let it sit for a while.

Hold the can over the stove and spray it with an even coat.Areas that have accumulated a lot of dirt should be sprayed with an extra spray.Leave the cleaner on the stove for at least 20 minutes so it can break apart the grease and make it easier to wipe off.If paint is left on for too long, be sure to wipe it off the burner knobs.

Step 4: To clean the burners, use a damp cloth or sponge.

Warm water can be used to damp a cleaning cloth or kitchen sponge.Work from the back of the stove to the front to catch any leftover food. Before wiping the stove again, rinse off the cloth and wring it out.If you need to scrub areas that are more difficult to access, use a stiff-bristled toothbrush that you only use for cleaning purposes. If you don't want to get grease or cleaner on your skin, wear cleaning gloves.

Step 5: Before putting the grates back on the stove, rinse and dry them.

To clean your grate, use a cleaning cloth or sponge.Put the cleaner back on the stove after you rinse it off.The grate should sit flush on your stove. If there is still food on your grate, you may need to use steel wool or a pad to remove it.

Step 6: The burner heads and caps need to be removed.

Take the grate out of the stove and put it away for now.Remove the top piece of the burner, also known as the cap, by grabbing it.Pick up the round metal part of the burner from the stove. It is important to remember where each burner goes so that you can put them back when you are done.If the burners don't come out when you try to lift them, you should use a screwdriver to remove them.

Step 7: For 30 minutes, put the parts in a container with warm water and dish soap.

Put warm water and liquid dish soap in a large tub or sink.Put soap in the water and it will sudsy. The heads and caps should be put in the soapy water. If you want to clean your burners naturally, you can make a cleaning solution with equal parts warm water and vinegar.

Step 8: Use a sponge to scrub the burners.

Remove the burner from the container and rinse them under warm water.Use a sponge to clean the burners. After wiping the burners, give them another rinse to remove soap.

Step 9: The burner heads and caps should be dry before they are replaced.

Before setting the burners on a rack to air-dry, make sure the kitchen towel is clean. The burners should be dry to the touch by the time you leave them on the rack. When you put the burner back on the stove, make sure it is wet or damp.

Step 10: The burner heads and caps should be on the stove.

The small hole near the middle of the burner head is where you need to line it up with the electrode.Put the burner in the right spot and put the cap on it.If the caps don't lay flat on the burner heads, the flames may not be uniform.

Step 11: The bags will hold the grate.

Take the grates out of the oven and put them in bags.Round or square burners will most likely fit inside of a 1 US gal bag.If you have large burners that don't fit in kitchen bags, use large garbage bags.

Step 12: The bags should be sealed with 4–1 c of ammonia.

Only 4 cup of ammonia can be used in small kitchen bags and 1 cup in large garbage bags. Before closing the bags, pour ammonia onto the grate. The fumes from the grease will break down the ammonia, so it doesn't have to completely cover the grate.Use duct tape or rope to close the garbage bags. It's a good idea to avoid breathing in ammonia fumes.

Step 13: For 12 hours, leave the bags alone.

Once the bags are sealed tight, store them in a safe place where they will not get opened or damaged for at least 12 hours. The ammonia fumes will break down grease and grime stuck on the grate so they are easier to clean. If the bags break open, your house will smell like ammonia. If you have stuck on food, you can leave the grate in for longer.

Step 14: To clean the grates, use a wet sponge.

You should open the bags after 12 hours.Run warm water and pour the ammonia into your sink.To remove residual grease from the grates, use a damp sponge or cloth. Before putting the grate back on the stove, you should wipe the dry grate with a lint-free towel.Don't use paper towels to dry your grate since they may pill and leave behind remnants.
