How To Clean Microfiber Furniture

Microfiber resembles the look of leather or suede. It is an attractive option for couches, chairs, and ottomans. If you have microfiber furniture, you can clean it at home.If you want to have your furniture cleaned yourself, you can use a vacuum, cleanser, sponge, and dry bristle brush.Microfiber furniture will look and feel new in no time.

Step 1: You have to read the instructions.

There should be a small tag with a letter on the furniture. This small code will show you how to clean microfiber furniture. You have to use a water-based solution. You must use a solvent-based cleaner.S-W means you can use either a water or solvent-based cleanser. You can only use a vacuum. There is no water or solvent-based cleanser of any kind.

Step 2: Don't treat a tag like an S tag.

If you find a "W" tag on your microfiber furniture, you can use a lot of cleaning solutions. Most microfiber furniture will have an "S" tag.If you can't locate a tag on your furniture, you should treat it like an "S" tag to avoid damaging it.

Step 3: Choose the right product.

You can choose the right product if you know which types of cleanser are appropriate for your furniture.Products you already have at home are some of your options. Many grocery stores and home improvement stores will sell store-bought cleansing solutions.Water-based cleansers include: gentle soap, mild dish detergent, carpet cleaner, and upholstery cleanser. If you have an "X" tag, do not use water or solvent-based cleanser.

Step 4: A vacuum.

The first thing to do when cleaning your furniture is to use a vacuum. If your furniture has cushions on it, it is a good idea to remove them and vacuum them all.If you own pets or furniture that is dirty, you may need to use a vacuum more than once.Lift out dirt using an upholstery attachment. You can use a dry bristle brush if you don't have an upholstery attachment.

Step 5: Take a spot test.

It is a good idea to do a spot test to make sure that the cleaning product you use won't cause damage or stains. If you don't want to see it, apply the cleanser to a sponge or cloth.Wait 15-20 minutes for this area to dry.You can use this product if there is no stain or spot.

Step 6: Liquid cleanser can be placed in a spray bottle.

Place this cleanser into a bottle with a spray top if you will be using a solvent-based solution. One area of your furniture piece should be misted.

Step 7: You have to scrub.

If you have microfiber furniture, choose a sponge that is light-colored or roughly the same color as it is.Use a vigorous motion to scrub the furniture that has been misted.Dirt and stains should be visible on the sponge. When you're done, mist and repeat somewhere else.

Step 8: Blow-dry wet spots.

If there are still wet spots after scrubbing your sofa, use a blow dryer. There is a chance of stains on furniture. The blow dryer should be used on its lowest setting.Take the blow dryer away from the fabric.

Step 9: It's a good idea to fluff your furniture.

Microfiber furniture needs to be fluffed after it's been cleansed. This fabric can become dull and stiff if it isn't changed. After your furniture is dry, grab a dry bristle brush.Rub the furniture with a circular motion. As you go, the fabric should become fluffier and more attractive.

Step 10: You can spray fabric protectors on your furniture.

When your sofa, chair, or ottoman is clean and dry, use a spray-on fabric protector to keep it that way. Most grocery and home improvement stores carry these products.Keep the nozzle 6” away from the fabric if you hold the can upright. The spray should be released using a slow, sweeping motion.Allow to dry.Add a second coat. Two light coats are better than a heavy coat. After every cleaning, apply again.
