Every time a peripheral is plugged into a Windows PC, an entry is created in the registry to record the event. You might want to remove these entries to alleviate privacy concerns, since they shouldn't cause any problems with future connections. There is a free app that you can use to remove evidence of your previous connections.
Step 1: Remove the peripherals from the PC.
If you have a plugged in accessory, make sure to save any open files and plug it in safely.
Step 2: You can access theusb_devices_view.html at http://www.nirsoft.net.
There is a free tool on this website that will allow you to view and remove records from the Windows registry. The tool is completely free and recommended by Microsoft TechNet Community Support. It works on all versions of Windows.
Step 3: Click the download button after scrolling down.
Click the link if you are using a 64-bit version of Windows. The links go all the way down to the bottom of the page. You can now download a ZIP file to your location.
Step 4: The ZIP file needs to be removed.
There are two files you need to extract, one for 32-bit and the other for 64-bit systems. You can open the folder containing the downloaded file.Click if you don't want to open the file. The window containing the contents will appear when the files are removed.
Step 5: Double-click the file.
The application opens and displays a list of devices that are connected to the PC.
Step 6: You can click on the Options menu.
It is at the top of the app.

It can be difficult to figure out which device is which. To find out more about an entry, double-click it to see its details on one window. The last date the device was plugged in is indicated by the "date" field. This can be used to identify older connections, like a flash drive. The full name of the driver file appears in the left column.Don't uninstall Connected devices. If you see "Yes" in the "Connected" section for an entry, it's usually something internal, like an input controller, audio interface, or sound module.
Step 8: You can uninstall selected devices by right-clicking the device.
There will be a confirmation message.
Step 9: Click yes to confirm.
The selected device's registry entry is deleted. To save the change, you may have to click again and enter your admin password.
Step 10: Press the F5 key to refresh the icon.
There is a sheet of paper with two green arrows in the top of the app. This changes the list so the entry you deleted doesn't show up anymore. As needed, you can now remove additional entries.
