The beans grow bigger in the Pod as the seed matures.The skin on the Pod starts to thin out as well.
The Borlotti beans mark becomes more prominent as the beans mature.There wouldn't be many marks on the beans harvest for young beans.Borlotti beans can be dried for later use.
