This is a craft for children of all ages. This tambourine is very easy to make for small children. It is a great project for classroom activity time.
Step 1: It's a good idea to start with an ordinary paper plate.
A plastic or styrofoam plate can be used.If you prefer a heavier tambourine, you may want to double the plate.
Step 2: To punch holes around the edge of the plate, use a paper puncher.
The holes should be at least one inch apart. If you don't have paper punchers, you can punch the plates with a needle and widen the hole using a toothpick.
Step 3: loop-stitch around the edge of the plate with a colorful length of yarn or thread
The leading tip of the yarn can be smudged with glue. It's easier to thread through the holes when the tip is stiff.
Step 4: The bells should be added.
Place a jingle bell between each stitch.
Step 5: Continue stitching the edge of the plate with a bell.
If you want to save on the amount of jingle bells used, you may skip every other loop.
Step 6: Plates can be decorated with glue, glitter, sequins, colored paper, crayons, markers and paint.
The fringe can be created by adding extra strands of yarn or ribbon.
