If you've stopped wearing one of your hoodies because it pulls too tightly on your neck, make a few cuts.If you want to make the hoodie more stylish, you can loosen the neckline or cut the V neck.Crop the bottom of your hoodie so that you can wear it with shorts or work out clothes.
Step 1: The hoodie should be placed on a flat surface.
Take the hoodie that fits too snug around your neck and lay it flat so the neckline isn't bunched up at all.Don't cut into your bedspread if you work on a table or counter instead of a bed.
Step 2: You can spread the neckline apart by using your fingers.
You can easily see where the 2 sides of the neckline meet if you pull the hoodie in opposite directions. There will be a V-shaped point where the 2 fabric layers meet.
Step 3: There is a 1 inch slit where the edges meet.
Cut a slit between the layers of fabric with a pair of scissors. The cut isn't noticeable if the slit goes in the same direction as the upper layer of fabric.
Step 4: Try on the hoodie to see if the neckline is loose.
If the neckline is comfortable, put the hoodie on.If the hoodie is still too tight, extend the slit by another 2 inch and try again. If you want a rugged look, use your hands to tear the slit more.
Step 5: The hoodie should be spread on a work surface.
Don't work on the floor or bed since you could cut into the carpet or bedspread. You should cut the hoodie on a work table or counter. You could use a mat to protect your work surface.
Step 6: Straight line from the center of the hoodie's neckline
If you want the V-neck to be deeper, use scissors to cut from the middle of the neckline to the bottom. To make a deep V-neck, cut a 5 in line.If you want a shallow V-necked, try cutting a 3 in line.
Step 7: To make smooth diagonal lines, trim or fold the edges of the neckline.
The sides of the neckline should be folded away from each other.Decide if you want to keep the neckline folded or trim the excess fabric. If you keep the fabric folded, you can sew it in place if you don't want it to fall onto your chest.
Step 8: To make a lacing hoodie, thread the holes along the V- neck.
A skewer can be used to poke 3 or 4 holes on each side of the V- neck.As if you were lacing a pair of shoes, thread a new shoelace through the holes. You can loosen or tighten the neckline by adjusting the shoelace. You could thread the hoodie's neckline with yarn or ribbon.
Step 9: Do you want to crop your hoodie?
If you want to cut it high, try the hoodie. If you want to see how much space there is between your hoodie and the top of the shorts or pants, you should wear a pair of shorts. You can mark the hoodie with a piece of chalk to remember where you're going.
Step 10: They're out of the way if you hang the hoodie and tape the sleeves.
Take your hoodie off and put it in a closet.Put the hoodie against the flat surface and tape the sleeves to the side so they don't fall in front of you.You can lay the hoodie flat on a table or work surface if you prefer.
Step 11: The hoodie's bottom should be pinned together.
Use sewing pins, binder clips, or clothespins to hold the bottom of the hoodie together. You'll be able to make a clean cut if the edges line up.You can skip this step if you don't want to make a completely straight cut.
Step 12: To draw a straight line, use a ruler.
If you want to crop the hoodie, use a permanent marker or piece of chalk to draw a straight line at the mark you made.
Step 13: To crop the hoodie, cut across the line.
Carefully cut the line with a pair of scissors.Remove the hoodie from the hangar and enjoy your new hoodie. You should keep in mind that the bottom of the hoodie will degrade over time.If you don't want it to fall, hem the bottom edge.
