Long bangs styled in a middle part, also called feathered bangs or curtain bangs, have made a comeback in the media.Even when you first cut them, they add a face-framing element to your haircut. You can give yourself long bangs at home if you follow your natural face shape and cut at an angle.
Step 1: If you want your hair to hang naturally, you need to dry it fully.
Before you cut your hair, wash it and use a blow dryer to dry it.Pull the front of your hair forward if you blow dry it.
Step 2: Put a rattail comb in the middle of your hair.
Take the tip of the rattail comb from the center of your head.Use the bridge of your nose as a guide to cut your hair in the middle. To make sure your part is straight, look in the mirror. It is important to make sure your part is straight.
Step 3: There is a triangle on top of your forehead.
Start by covering your forehead with hair that is 2 inches away from your head.Take a triangle from your part to the ends of your eyebrow.Pull the rest of your hair back. You should start with less hair than you think you want to cut.You can add more hair, but you can't take away the bangs.
Step 4: Your bangs should be toward your lips.
To keep your bangs together, use your comb to brush them from your forehead down. They need to lay flat on your forehead and be brushed all the way down with no knots or tangles.Don't comb your hair if you have curly hair.Pull the sides of your hair together so that they meet on your forehead.
Step 5: Keep your hair out of your mouth.
The hair should be between your pointer finger and middle finger. If you want your hair to lay flat on your forehead, pull it all the way taut.
Step 6: The shears should be held at an angle.
Place your shears at a 45 degree angle.Your shears should be pointed at an angle the entire time you cut your hair to ensure a more textured and blended cut.Cut hair with cutting shears made for that purpose. You can buy them at beauty supply stores.
Step 7: Cut your hair in a straight line.
Cut across to the left side of your bangs after starting on the right side.Hold your shears at an angle and make your first cut below your fingers.Use your shears to cut across your hair.
Step 8: Take your bangs down the middle and see how they fall.
You can brush your bangs on either side of your face. You don't have to cut anything if you like how they look.A seamless blend and a subtle cut can be achieved with bangs at this length. They may look like layers.
Step 9: Take one side of your hair out.
It would hang naturally on your face if you combed down one side of your bangs. If you want to hold your bangs at an angle that follows the natural slope of your face, grab the bangs between your fingers. If you want a straight line to follow, you can use your comb to hold your bangs in place.Make your bangs shorter and more textured by trimming them at an angle. To point your shears at your hair, hold them up and place them at an angle next to your eyebrow. You can make small cuts all the way down your hair with a diagonal line at the bottom of your ear.
Step 10: If you want to match the other side of your hair, compare the lengths.
Pull the short piece of your hair toward the longer side if you just cut it.To match the length of your bangs, make a cut on the longer side.Continue cutting at a downward angle until you reach the end of your hair.If your bangs are not the same length, don't worry. The bangs on your hair hide any flaws.
Step 11: You can use texture shears to lighten your hair.
Take one side of your hair and hold it in between your fingers. If you want to make small cuts at the ends of your hair, hold your shears at an angle. To make your bangs even, do this to both sides. The textured shears have a small comb attached to one side and make jagged cuts, so they will add some nice layers to your hair. Most beauty supply stores have texture shears.
Step 12: Take your hair out between your eyebrows.
Just above your nose, secure your bangs with your pointer and middle finger.Make sure the top part of your hair is smooth.
Step 13: You should twist your hair once.
You can twist your hair to either the right or left with your fingers. The twist should stay in place if you hold your hair tightly.Adding a twist to your hair makes it look more blended and gives you more layers.
Step 14: Under the twist position your shears at an angle.
The shears should be pointed toward your forehead. To make more cuts, hold your shears at a 45 degree angle. If you don't hold your shears at an angle, your cuts will be choppy and blunt.
Step 15: Cut your hair in a straight line.
As you make your cuts, hold your shears at a slight angle. To give yourself bangs, cut a straight line from right to left across your hair.Don't worry if you see a little jagged line, try to make your line mostly straight. This means that your bangs have more texture.
Step 16: If you want to see how your bangs fit, let your hair down.
Remove your hair from the back of your head.Adding some layers to your hair will make it blend with the rest of it.If you like the more blunt look of your bangs, you don't have to add layers to your hair.
