You are approaching the top of the lift-hill.swoosh you fly down the hill as you and the rest of the passengers are happy, as the negative Gs are nearly unbearable.Have you ever wondered where the great roller coasters come from?A model designed by an architect or engineer is where it all begins.You can use the computer simulation of roller coaster designs and even the blueprints.The roller coasters are harder to build without a model.A work of art is a model which helps the park buy your design.You can show off to your friends how you made your dream come true when your roller coaster is built.
Step 1: Pick the design you want to make into a model.
Is it the cute children's design, or the big beastly monster?
Step 2: Make sure the design is put together correctly.
You don't want your work to end up in a pile of garbage.
Step 3: Pick the type of material you want the model to be made of.
Some people make them from Popsicle sticks and toothpicks.Purchase all the materials you chose in the previous step by creating a list of them.These can be found in arts and crafts stores.
Step 4: Map out how you plan to build your model.
The categories are important for completing the project.Use a regular marker to layout the shape of the model first.Go over the layout in permanent marker once the model is put down.You're ready to start the building process.Glue, the material used for the model itself, paint, and scenery pieces are all needed to make a model.Take time to make sure the model is strong and securely constructed.
Step 5: It's important to build your model on a material that resembles the ground.
Step 6: All parts of the track and supports should be in the model.
The lift hill or launch sections will be applied.
Step 7: The lift hill can be hard to apply on a roller coaster.
The roller coaster's chain of lift has to squeeze in between the supports underneath the track.
Step 8: Place wires in the center of the track on the lift hill.
Step 9: The lift will go through to meet under the track if you select 2 places at the top and bottom.
Step 10: On the side of the first hill, thread the wire under the supports until both ends meet.
Allow the glue to dry.It is easier to apply the lift on a steel roller coaster.
Step 11: Glue the wires to the top of the lift hill.
Step 12: Most roller coasters with them are flat and the launch sections are easy to place on models.
The following are the most common forms of launches.Linear Synchronous Motor can be found on the recently opened roller coaster at Cedar Point.
Step 13: 2 or 3 wires can be applied to the launching section of the model.
As easy as that, you're done!Inside of the coaster's station, Linear Induction Motor are often featured.LIM roller coasters are most launched.
Step 14: Magnetic mechanisms are used to launch roller coasters.
There are small pieces of plastic that can do the job.Glue can be squirted onto the inner part of the track.Place each piece individually on the track and hold them in place for a short period of time.
Step 15: The launch section of roller coaster models requires a lot of brakes.
Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, and Storm Runner are all powered by a motor.
Step 16: If you can't get a hold of small metal plates, plastic will do.
Put glue and plastic on the track.Make sure the brakes are in perfect alignment.The roller coasters must have a rectangular track.
Step 17: Once the lift or launch section is completed, you are ready to begin painting your model.
The type of paint that you choose isn't the most important thing in the world, but you need to make a good choice.It is acceptable for wood, but not for metal.The choice is yours to make.
Step 18: Depending on the size of the model, you can design a train for your roller coaster that has a reasonable amount of cars.
It doesn't need to roll if it is placed on any part of the track.
Step 19: Once you have all the scenery you want, begin to bond them onto the surface of the model.
The final step is important to grab the attention of your company.The roller coaster will often look droll without scenery, and the viewers will have a lack of interest.
