There are many ways to divide the circle. You need a compass to divide the circle into six equal pieces if you are using a pencil and paper. If you need to divide the circle for graphic design, you may want to use Adobe Illustrator or InDesign. The methods to divide the circle are different for each program.
Step 1: Take the compass and draw a circle.
The pencil tip should be aligned with the needle.Place the point of the compass on the paper. The distance between the pencil and needle should be the same as the circle you want to draw.To complete the circle, swing the compass around. The hinge needs to be tight so it doesn't slip while drawing.Make sure the pencil is in its holder so it doesn't move while drawing. The first circle is the main circle.
Step 2: The edge of the first circle can be drawn as a second circle.
At any point along the main circle, place the needle of the compass.Keep the distance between the needle and pencil the same as the first circle. To complete the second circle, swing the compass around. The center of the first circle should be crossed through the second circle. The circle won't be divided equally if the distance between the needle and pencil changes.
Step 3: To draw a third circle, use the intersection of the first and second circle.
The intersection of the first and second circles is where the needle should be.The center of a third circle is one of the two intersection you can use.The third circle can be completed using the compass. For every circle you draw, keep the compass at the same distance. You should have three circles. The outer circles overlap with the center of the first main circle.
Step 4: The intersection of the main circle and the third circle is used to draw a fourth circle.
The intersection of the third circle and the main circle is the center point. You can use the intersection to the left of the circle if you go clockwise.Draw a fourth circle after placing the compass on that intersection.Halfway done with drawing circles.
Step 5: Use the next intersection of the circles to draw three more.
Use the intersection of the previously drawn circle with the main circle as the center to draw the next circle.Continue until you have a total of six circles around the main circle. The inside of your circle should look like a flower.
Step 6: To draw a straight line through the center of the circle, use a ruler.
To divide the circle into 6 parts, you need to draw the first of three lines.Every line should cross the center of the circle and divide your drawing into two parts.
Step 7: Draw a straight line from the first flower to the next.
The line will go through the center of the circle.
Step 8: You can draw your final straight line clockwise from the last.
The circle is divided into 6 equal parts.
Step 9: A line should be drawn through the center of the circle.
The first step in dividing the circle is cutting it in half.Draw a line through the center of the circle to the opposite end.The circle has been divided into two equal pieces. If you want to cut a pie or a cake, this method is for you.
Step 10: One half of the circle can be divided into thirds by drawing two more lines.
You want to draw two lines that cut the half in half. One half of the cake can be divided into three equal pieces. You should get as close to three equal pieces as possible. This method is just an approximation.
Step 11: Those lines should be extended into the other half of the circle.
Go through the center of the circle to the opposite side. The circle should be divided into six equal parts if done correctly. This method can be used to divide a circle into six equal parts.
Step 12: Start with Adobe Illustrator.
You can open the application by double-clicking on this icon if you have a shortcut on your desktop. If you don't have a shortcut, use the start menu or search for the application and open it from the search bar.
Step 13: The tool is located in the polar grid.
One of the options on the left side of your screen is the polar grid tool.It is part of the Line segment group of tools. It looks like a spider web with divided lines through it.Click and hold on the Line segment tool until a window opens with more options.Click on the tool to use it.
Step 14: To make a circle, click and drag.
Click on the canvas and drag the mouse to create a circle. You should be able to see a circle with smaller circles. They can be removed later. To adjust the size of the circle, drag in and out until you reach the desired size.To snap, hold and shift.Don't release the mouse click until you finish the next step.
Step 15: Use the arrow keys to separate.
Press on the right arrow key until you see that the circle has been divided into 6 equal parts.Push the left arrow key to decrease the number of divisions if you accidentally press the key too many times. You can let go of the mouse when the circle is the size you want and divided into 6 equal parts. If you let go of the mouse too early, there is an alternative method: keep the polar grid tool active and click on any whitespace in your document. You can set the number of divisions to 6 and remove the dividers by setting the option to 0.
Step 16: Use the Ellipse tool to create a circle.
The Ellipse tool can be found on the left side of the screen. It is an ellipse.Click on the white canvas and drag the circle to the size that you want.If you want to make a perfect circle, you have to release the click on the mouse.
Step 17: Place the guides in the center of the circle.
Click on the ruler and drag towards the circle to place a vertical guide. The guide should be placed over the center points of the circle.Click on the ruler and drag it toward the circle to place the horizontal guide. You can drag the guides into place if they don't get correctly placed the first time.
Step 18: The tool is located in the middle of the frame.
There is a tool group that includes the Polygon Frame tool.Click and hold on the tool to see the icons. The tool has an "X" through it.Click on the tool to make it active. The icon will be displayed on the toolbar.
Step 19: An equilateral triangle can be drawn with the Polygon Frame tool.
Click on the white canvas to open the options dialog box.Click okay if you want to set the number of sides to 3.With Shift held down, click and drag a triangle that is slightly longer than your circle.Shift after you let go of the mouse click. This will make sure you have a perfect equilateral triangle.
Step 20: The triangle should be aligned with the center of the circle.
Click on the triangle if the black arrow is selected. The bottom- left corner should be snapped to the center of the circle if you drag it there. The right side of the triangle should hang outside the circle with the bottom and left side intersecting it.
Step 21: The Intersect tool can be used to join the circle and triangle.
The triangle and circle should be highlighted. The Intersect tool can be found under object>path finder.A wedge shape should appear after clicking Intersect.One-sixth of the circle is where this wedge is located.
Step 22: You can copy and rotation the wedge.
Right click if you want to highlight the wedge.Click on the image to move it.Click Copy if you want to set the angle to 60.The second wedge will appear when you click copy. The second wedge should be next to the first wedge. The circle will begin to form.
Step 23: You have to repeat the process until you have 6 wedges.
Click again and copy the second wedge you just made. You can place the third wedge next to the second. When you have six total wedges, repeat this with the third, fourth, and fifth wedge. You need to align each wedge next to the previous one to get a perfect circle.
