How to do a small engine oil change.
After the first five hours of use, you should change the oil in your small engine every 50 hours.
Run the engine until it warms up.The engine needs to be stopped. To prevent accidental starting, be sure to remove the spark plug wire and secure it away from the igniter.Dirt and debris can fall into the crankcase if the oil fill and drain plug area is not cleaned. If equipped, remove the dipstick.
To tilt the mower deck, place a newspaper and an oil pan or jug beneath it.The old oil can be drained if the plug counter is turned clockwise. If the plug also serves as a fill cap, it may have two prongs so you can loosen it by hand or with a screwdriver.
To replace the drain plug, twist it clockwise and tighten it with a box wrench. If your engine does not have an oil filter, skip this step.
You can use the oil capacity chart or your operator manual to figure out the correct amount of oil for your engine. One of the yellow or white oil fill plugs can be used to fill the engine with oil to the correct level. Please use the correct measuring device in your operator's manual when filling the engine with oil.
The use of warranty certified oils for best performance is recommended by us.Other high-quality detergent oils can be used if they are classified as service SF, SG, SH, SJ or higher.Special Additives should not be used.
The temperature of the engine's oil is determined by outdoor temperatures. The chart can be used to find the best viscosity for the outdoor temperature range. Most outdoor power equipment has 5W30 Synthetic oil.The best protection is provided by Vanguard 15W50 Synthetic oil.
Increased oil consumption may be caused by the use of 10W30 above 80F.The oil level should be checked more frequently.
