There are two main categories of magic, white magic and black magic. The exact definition of each is often debated.White magic is associated with healing and positive vibes, while black magic brings about negative vibes and harm.Other believers believe that black magic is done for the benefit of the caster, while white magic will benefit others.Black magic is any kind of magic where social mores and taboos are broken. The practice of white magic varies greatly between belief systems, schools of thought and even individual practitioners.
Step 1: Pick a base for the altar.
You can place your Book of Shadows and your chosen ritual items on the raised flat surface of your altar. This can be a coffee table, nightstand, shelf, or large storage chest. It's easier to move around inside a ritual circle if you use a round altar. Some prefer square or rectangular altars for practical reasons. For white magic, you may want to choose an altar made of wood that is more in tune with nature. You can choose to use a specific type of wood.
Step 2: The placement in your home is up to you.
It's important to pick a quiet place where you can concentrate.Depending on the school of thought, some traditions place the altar towards the North or East.It is possible to place your altar in a spot with a lot of natural light. It could be placed in a positive spot in your kitchen.
Step 3: You can arrange symbols of your gods.
Your altar should have these symbols placed side-by-side.Your symbolic items can either represent the Mother Goddess or the Horned God.Different colored candles are used to represent their deities.Others buy statues of their deities. Some deities pick items based on myths and traditions.
Step 4: The elements should be represented.
The four elements around the altar correspond to the four cardinal directions.White or light-colored versions of these items can be used for white magic. If you choose, you can choose white wine or red wine. The Earth to the North is represented by stones, salt, food, and/or plants.A candle is placed on the ground.Fire to the South is represented by oil, ritual knives and/or a candle snuffer. There is a red candle at the center.Air to the East is represented by incense, feathers, a bell, and/or your wand. There is a candle at the periphery.A bowl of water, seashells, a glass of wine, and/or a cauldron represent water to the west.A candle is placed at the center.
Step 5: Determine your intentions.
When performing a spell, have a clear goal in mind.White magic is positive and good for others.White magic is good for healing, growth, happiness, peace, etc.White magic cannot subvert the will of another person according to many.If you follow this rule, you shouldn't cast a love spell on a person to get them to love you.A white magic love spell would involve attracting an unknown person, possibly with certain desired qualities, to either you or the person who asked you to perform the spell.
Step 6: Extra objects for your altar are related to your spell.
The meaning of the items is more important than the particulars of them. You can draw from your culture or coven's traditions. Some of the most popular choices are specific herbs and figurines. As long as you don't overcrowd your altar, you can add as many items you want.Place representations of the qualities you want in a lover in the example of a white magic love spell.Adding pepper or a dash of spice will make someone passionate.Intelligence may be represented by a statue.A jar of saffron could be given to a suitor.
Step 7: You can start by casting a circle.
Stand inside your altar and create a circle around it.The circle can be made with chalk, string, stones, twigs, salt, or any other object.Face towards the altar. If you are casting with other people, you should join hands and face the center of the circle.
Step 8: You can meditate on the altar.
The objects on the altar can be used to clear your mind.If you want to channel your focus, you can use a ceremonial knife or wand.Think about how each spells the same thing.Ask your deities for help and guidance.
Step 9: Do any rituals or recite incantations that are appropriate for your spell.
These aren't always needed for a spell, but many practitioners use them. You can either learn from another believer or research them. You can write your own spell in your Book of Shadows. You can read directly from your book if you memorize everything necessary.Do not perform actions that symbolize violence for white magic.Do not use words that are offensive.
