The pitbull is a good dog to try out if you want to improve your dog drawing game. The first step is below.
Step 1: There are two almond-shapes starting near the center of the page.
They should be reflections of one another and symmetrical. If you want to show the wideset nature of pitbull heads, leave a space of between 2 and 3 eye width between the eyes.
Step 2: Take up the majority of the almond shape by drawing a circle within each eye.
Leave a small portion outside of the almond.
Step 3: Take a small circle and place it in the center of the eye.
The pupils of the dog will be formed by these. The circles should be similar to the shapes of Pacman.
Step 4: To outline the nose bridge of the dog, add two curved lines, one on either side, roughly one eye-width down from each eye.
The curves should start under the inner side of each eye and gradually move to the outside.
Step 5: Three-quarters down each curve, in the center between the two curves, draw a half circle to start the nose.
Step 6: Make small, round lobes on the interior of the circle by drawing small curved lines from each edge.
The nostrils will form.
Step 7: The center of the nose has a shape on either side of it.
The septum will be shaped by these.
Step 8: To create tear-drop shapes on either side of the nose, reflect the top portion of it horizontally.
The bottom portion should not be as smooth as the top portion.A trough in the center will give a more organic look.
Step 9: Draw curved lines on the bottom center of the nose.
To further enhance and round the nose, these will act as creases.
Step 10: Continue a straight line, about two-thirds of the nose's height, down from the crease origin.
The cleft of the dog's mouth will be formed by this.
Step 11: Two curves extending from the cleft, one in either direction.
Near the edges of each eye, they should be extended to the width. The beginning and end of the curve should be the same height. The upper lip/whisker area of the dog is formed by these.
Step 12: There are 10 dots spread out on each side of the cleft.
These act as the whisker holes, so they don't have to be symmetrical.
Step 13: Start near the top of the eyes and draw a Y that is roughly the same size as the nose.
This is a characteristic of many pitbulls.
Step 14: Draw lines above and below the eyes.
They should follow the shape of the eye. These add character and help add to the rough look of pitbulls, as well as demonstrate the muscular detailing in their facial structure.
Step 15: From the outer edge of each eye and the height of the nose bridge, draw a curve on the dog's face.
Pitbulls have strong cheekbones.
Step 16: Draw a curve in the opposite direction of the mouth curves from the thin edge of each tear-drop nostril.
The eyeballs are about one-third the width.
Step 17: Draw a curved line on either side of the face, extending from the corner of each eyeball down to the whisker area.
These bones form the cheek bones of the dog and help to encompass the features of his face.
Step 18: Draw curves from the top of the cheekbone to the forehead crease.
These lines should be straight.
Step 19: A shape resembling a forehead burrow at the top of the head should be drawn.
It doesn't need to follow a specific shape, but it must have a few slight curves to form the top of the head and forehead.
Step 20: You drew elm leaf-shaped ears earlier.
They should end near the edge of the burrow, but not touch the line.
Step 21: A small bump can be formed by drawing a curved line on either side of the furrow that touches the ears.
Step 22: Draw lines around the ears and end them with curves that go towards the inner base of the ear.
Step 23: Below the whisker area, draw small jowls from the jaw bones.
Step 24: The lower portion of the mouth should be drawn from the whisker area.
The shape should be similar to the one drawn for the bottom of the nostrils.
Step 25: Start drawing the tongue with two curves in the middle of the mouth hole that look like they're coming from the whisker area.
Step 26: You can extend the tongue down past the mouth with straight lines, touching each side of the gap you left open, and ending with a U-shaped curve.
Step 27: A straight line stretching from the cleft in the tongue to the other side.
Step 28: There are smile marks on both corners of the mouth.
Step 29: A third curved line extending from the jowls to three-quarters of the way down the tongue should connect the bottom jaw.
The chin of the dog will be formed by this.
Step 30: The spikes should be near the bottom of the chin.
Step 31: Draw a line from one side of the chin to the other, connecting to make a collar.
Step 32: Write your pit bull's name within the borders by drawing a bone shape under the collar and tongue.
Step 33: Two lines are drawn from each edge of the collar.
Step 34: Your pitbull is complete if you shade it in the mouth, pupils, and ear holes.
