Are you concerned that your favorite hoodie will lose its soft texture after you dry it?Well, worry no more. You can dry your hoodie to make sure it doesn't shrink or lose its shape. If you don't want the hoodie to get damaged or shrink, hang it up to dry in a location with good air flow, or adjust your dryer settings so it can tumble dry.If you plan to machine-dry your hoodie, make sure to check the tag for specific instructions.
Step 1: The hoodie has a zip on it.
If you connect the 2 sides of the hoodie, you can move the sliders to close the teeth. If you zip it all the way up, the hoodie dries evenly and doesn't form folds. It's a good idea to connect the sides of the hoodie to prevent it from stretching. If the zip up hoodie is damaged or broken, it's a good idea to fix it.
Step 2: Place the hoodie on top of the towel.
If you want to spread the towel open, place a clean dry towel on a table or countertop.Put the hoodie on top of the towel to make it flat. The hoodie should be placed at its sides so they are straight. If you run the hood through a spin cycle in your washing machine, there is still some excess water you can remove.
Step 3: The excess water can be squeezed out by pressing down on the hoodie.
Put your hands on top of it and press down to get as much water as you can.If you twist or wring out the hoodie you will stretch the fibers and cause it to dry out.Pressing on every part of the hoodie will help it dry.
Step 4: Put the hoodie in a dry towel and squeeze it.
Take a clean towel and lay it flat.Put the hoodie on top of the towel so it is flat and the sleeves are straight on the side of it.The hoodie should be rolled inside the towel from the bottom. You can press out more water from the hoodie by squeezing the towel with your hands. If you stretch the hoodie out and twist the rolled towel to squeeze it, it will make it look bigger.
Step 5: The hoodie should be put on a dry surface.
Unroll the hoodie from the towel and place it on top of a dry towel on a surface such as a table, desk, or counter.Make sure the arms are straight and there aren't any folds in the hoodie. The hoodie could develop mold or smell in a damp room. The weight of the hoodie will stretch the fibers if it is put on a hangers.
Step 6: The hoodie should air dry for at least 10 hours.
The hoodie should be left undisturbed so that it dries evenly. It's best to let it air-dry overnight or for at least 8 hours.Touch the material with your hands to make sure it is dry before you wear it.
Step 7: Check the tag for instructions.
The tag is on the inside of the hoodie. If there are specific instructions you need to follow in order to machine-dry the hoodie, read it.Follow the instructions to get the best results. If the tag says to machine-dry on medium heat, follow the instructions.
Step 8: If there is one, put the zip up all the way.
Zip up the hoodie all the way so it dries evenly and doesn't crease in the fabric. If it is possible, put the zip inside the neck of the hoodie so that it doesn't get caught in the dryer.
Step 9: The dryer should be set to a low heat setting.
The tumble speed and heat setting can be found on the dials. To prevent the hoodie from being damaged, turn the dial to the lowest possible setting. If the dryer has a no-heat option, set it to that so you don't have to use it.A low tumble setting will keep your hoodie from getting wrinkled.
Step 10: The hoodie should be put in the dryer.
Put the hoodie inside of the dryer door and close it securely. If you want your hoodie to dry evenly, don't add any other items to the dryer. If you have additional clothing items you need to dry, keep the load small so your hoodie can tumble easily and freely. Some items can be overdried if they are mixed with lighter items, such as shirts or undergarments.
Step 11: The hoodie needs to be checked every 15 minutes until it is dry.
The button or knob that starts the dryer is located once you have adjusted the settings.Leave the hoodie in the dryer for at least 15-20 minutes. As soon as the hoodie is dry, remove it from the dryer to make sure it doesn't shrink. It may take up to an hour to dry your hoodie if you set your dryer to a no-heat setting.
