Affirmative confidence can help you in your work place, relationships, and personal life.Work on your body language, speaking style, and overall attitude to be confident.Make sure to stand tall, use an even voice, and make eye contact. It's important to feel confident overall.Don't be afraid of other people's judgement, and embrace who you are.
Step 1: Good posture is practiced.
The way others perceive you is influenced by your posture. You will look better if you sit straight. The impression of nervousness is given by slothing. If you pay attention to your posture throughout the day, you will come off as confident to those around you.Stand up straight by keeping your back and shoulder muscles aligned.Relax your stomach muscles and bend your knees.Keep your shoulders back and keep your head up.This will make you appear taller and more confident in the workplace. If you look downward, you will make yourself look shorter even with relatively straight posture.Power posing can help you with confidence. It's similar to how Superman or Wonder Woman might stand. You will look and feel more confident if you hold the pose for a minute.
Step 2: When you talk, gesticulate.
People with charisma tend to gesticulate. When you talk, be aware of your hands. To emphasize a point, try to move your hands slightly. It is possible to come off as more confident and charismatic. There are many ways togesticulate. You can use the rhythm of your words to move your hands. You can use your hands to show something. When describing a type of building, you can draw a shape in the air.Don't get too carried away, however.Gesticulation can look out of control if you're moving your hands too wildly.Try to keep your hand straight.
Step 3: Don't be distracted by fidgeting.
One of the biggest signs of anxiousness is fidgeting. It will not make you feel confident if you tap your legs, pick at your face, or otherwise move around during a conversation. If you're gesticulating, try to keep your body movements relatively still. It's possible that you won't notice it without realizing it.People may have nervous habits that they are not aware of.Be aware of your body movements. You may see yourself getting restless more than you think.
Step 4: The body posture should be more open.
Holding yourself in an open body position can make you feel confident.Lean back and relax if you want to keep an open body posture. If you are leaning back in your chair, you will be less anxious.Keep your feet flat on the ground and allow your arms to rest in your lap or side.Look at the person you are talking to.Don't look around the room and stay focused on who you are talking to.Don't cross your legs.Keep your feet on the floor in conversation. You can look closed off if you cross your legs. This will make you feel less confident throughout the day.
Step 5: A clear voice is important.
Fumbling over your words makes you look disorganized.A clear and controlled voice can make you feel confident.Try to speak in a way that is easy to understand. In order to appear confident, use a clear voice in work and personal conversations.Stay aware of your tone when you talk.It can take some practice to get the right speaking tone.Try to speak in front of a mirror. If your tone is clear and easy to understand, you can record yourself talking and play it back to yourself.
Step 6: In addition to speaking, listen.
Being confident does not mean being aggressive.Confident people don't feel the need to dominate the conversations because they are secure in themselves and their opinions.Give other people a chance to speak.Allowing someone to disagree with you makes you look more confident.Allow others to talk as much as you do.Pause after you finish a sentence or make a point to allow the other person to respond.Show that you're listening as well.To demonstrate you're paying attention to the other person, use non-verbal cues, such as nodding and smiling.
Step 7: Speak your mind, without apology.
People who are nervous by nature tend to diminish their opinion. You can say "I'm sorry to disagree, but..." or not speak up when you disagree. You don't have to be aggressive, but be comfortable sharing your thoughts. If you want to get straight to the point, don't apologize.Say something like, "Actually, I see the situation differently" and then explain. It's okay to be passionate. It's a form of confidence to have strong passions.
Step 8: Do not threaten others.
Being aggressive and confident are different things. If you get angry or hostile when others challenge you, this makes you look bad.Allow others to talk.Allow someone who disagrees with you to say so without interruption. In a polite fashion, acknowledge what they said.I can see what you're saying. Thanks for sharing. It's not about winning. It's about finding a solution that works for everyone.Don't think about whether you see eye-to-eye with a person.Look for ways to compromise. If you're frustrated by a situation, focus on accepting the present instead of justifying your feelings. You can get a more clear-eyed look at the situation with this.
Step 9: Thank you.
People are confident that they did not get where they were alone.Confidence is about being able to express appreciation. It is necessary to express gratitude to others.Thank people for sharing their point of view, helping you out with a problem, and anything else that comes up throughout the day.Teammates and coworkers will appreciate that you don't think about them as stepping stones to success, but as people you trust and care about.
Step 10: Keep eye contact.
Hold your eye contact when talking to someone. This will show you are aware and listening.Don't stare blankly.Look away for a moment before making eye contact again.Don't look down or have a slumped posture. These things can send a message to others that you are passive or submissive, which can make you seem weak and easy to target.
Step 11: You have to dress the part.
If you want to look confident, what you wear matters. You don't need to be dressed up all the time.If you need to appear confident, wear clothing that reflects a bold attitude. You should dress for the job you want, not the one you have.Dressing well for meetings and job interviews is better than dressing poorly.Invest in quality business clothing. You could wear a button down shirt, dress pants, and a tie.
Step 12: Take responsibility for your actions.
Confident people are comfortable with themselves. They know they are the only people who can make their life unfold the way they want.Work on acknowledging your responsibility for what happens around you.If you're late to work because of a late train, don't think of it as the subway system's fault. This was an unfortunate occurrence, but I should have left earlier.I know trains are late a lot.Try to do better the next day.You will feel more confident if you feel in control of yourself and your actions.
Step 13: Don't deviate from your plans.
People who are confident are able to achieve their goals.Make a plan and stick to it if you want to look more confident. If you want to finish the project by the deadline, complete it.You can set goals for yourself with certain steps. If you want to complete something by a deadline, set goals for how much work you'll do each day leading up to the deadline. It's important to set realistic goals and plans. It's a sure way to undermine your confidence if you chew more than you can chew.
Step 14: No one will be watching you.
Don't get caught up in the judgement of others. Most people don't think about you and your actions as much as they think.People worry more about themselves and their issues than you do if you want to appear confident.Being aware of this can help you feel more confident.
Step 15: Don't be afraid to admit you're wrong.
Being comfortable with your choices is what confidence is all about.Do not avoid taking responsibility for your actions. You will look better admitting you were wrong than sticking to your convictions.Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself if you make a silly mistake. It shows you're secure in your self-worth if you show that you are okay with being human and messing up occasionally.Say "Oh, sorry" if you were wrong about something. That was a mistake on my part. It's okay to make a mistake.Do not apologize for being human. If you missed work because you were sick, don't apologize. This could not have been prevented.
