Because they are made to last a long time, jeans are a staple in any wardrobe. You may not want to give up on your jeans if you have noticed thigh holes.Try to sew the hole closed by hand if it is small, add a denim patch to it, and prevent thigh holes in the future by taking care of your jeans and reinforcing them from the inside.
Step 1: The hole can be cut with scissors.
The torn parts of the hole in your jeans can cause them to rip further. To remove the parts of the hole that are fraying, use a sharp pair of scissors.Don't cut away any fabric. This will make sewing easier.
Step 2: Use a sewing needle.
Pick a cotton sewing thread that matches the color of your jeans. The end of the thread should be put through the needle. To create a tail, loop the thread through the needle and tie the ends together. You don't have to use thread that matches your jeans, but it might be more noticeable.
Step 3: Stitch vertically up each side after closing the hole.
Your jeans should be turned inside out.To close the hole in your jeans, hold it together with 1 hand.Use a whipstitch at the beginning of the hole.Push your needle through one side of the fabric and then over the hole to the starting side.Continue until the whole hole is sewn shut. The fabric of your jeans is reinforced with this stitch.
Step 4: Cut away any excess thread by tying it off.
There are 2 strands of thread hanging out of your jeans if you remove the needle from your thread. The thread should stay in the fabric if the strands are tied together twice.Cut away any extra thread with your scissors.
Step 5: Use sharp scissors to remove the edges of the hole.
It is important to get rid of the damaged parts of your jeans so that they don't rip further.Use scissors to cut off the edges of the hole in your jeans. The patch will look better in your jeans.
Step 6: The patch is 2 times larger than the hole.
You can either buy a denim patch at a craft store or use the denim that you already have.If you want to cut it down to the size of your jeans, use scissors.
Step 7: Place the patch behind the hole in your jeans.
The patch should be behind the hole in your jeans so that it covers the entire area.To keep the patch in place, use 4 sewing pins.If you have an iron-on patch, you can use a hot iron to stick it to the inside of your jeans. You can add stitches if you want to make sure it's secure.
Step 8: Attach the patch to your jeans with a straight line.
Attach the patch to your jeans with a sewing machine or hand.A straight stitch is created by sewing in 1 straight line.If you want your patch to be secure, do this on all 4 sides of the hole. You can use a thread color that matches your jeans.A new needle is needed to punch through the denim.
Step 9: The patch or denim scrap should be cut off.
Use sharp scissors to remove any part of the patch that isn't sewn down. The patch will not rub on your thighs when you wear jeans.Don't cut the thread that holds the patch to your jeans.
Step 10: There are long underwear or boxers.
If you aren't wearing anything underneath your jeans, your thighs will rub together without any padding. If you want to give your jeans a little extra lining, put on boxers or compression shorts that cover your thighs. On cold days you can wear leggings under your jeans to keep you warm.
Step 11: You should wash your jeans once a week.
The washing of jeans makes them wear out faster.Don't wash your jeans when they are dirty. The longer your jeans last, the less you wash them.If your jeans are smelly, hang them outside on a clothes hanger.
Step 12: Put your jeans in the dryer.
The dryer is a bad place to put your jeans because of the heat.Instead of putting your jeans in the dryer, hang them on a clothes hanger or a drying rack.If you have to dry your jeans in the dryer, place them on low heat.
Step 13: Before they rip, sew patches into the thighs of your jeans.
If you are prone to holes in the thighs of your jeans, you can take a preventative measure and sew patches on the inside of the jeans where they rub together.Use denim patches to reinforce the existing material and prevent thigh holes from happening. The area that starts to rip is here.
