How To Format Cells on Google Sheets on PC or Mac

You can learn how to format the color and text of cells in a computer.

Step 1: In a web browser, go to sheets.google.com.

If you haven't already signed in to your account, sign in now.

Step 2: Click on the file you want to modify.

Step 3: You can format the cells by selecting them.

Click one time to select an individual cell.Click the column letter to select all the cells.Click the row number to select all the cells.

Step 4: The cell color can be changed by clicking the fill color icon.

There is a tilted paint can near the top right corner of Sheets.There is a list of colors.

Step 5: You can click a color.

This fills the cell with that color.

Step 6: The lines around the cell can be changed with the Borders button.

There are 4 smaller squares to the right of the Fill Color icon.There is a list of cell border options.

Step 7: Click the border option.

The change is reflected in the lines around the cell.

Step 8: The Align button can be used to adjust text alignment.

The button has several horizontal lines.There will be a list of alignment options.

Step 9: Click on the alignment option.

The selected cell's text now follows that alignment.

Step 10: You can click on the Text Wrap icon.

It looks like an arrow is pointing to the right.Longer cell values can be wrapped into a format that is better for the selected cell.

Step 11: Click the icon that says Text rotation.

It has an arrow beneath it.There are a number of options for rotating the text.

Step 12: You can click a direction.

The arrow shows the rotation of the text in the selected cell.

Step 13: Click the button to combine multiple cells.

The square is near the top-right corner of Sheets.There will be a list of options.There is no reason to format more than one cell.

Step 14: You can click a merging option.

If you want to combine columns and rows into one cell, select if your selection contains columns or rows.If that's the case, combine the cells in that direction.
