forwarding will help you get to the correct location if you accidentally received the wrong mail or want to share an email.You only need to fill out a form to forward mail from the post office.The click of a button can set up email forwarding.No matter what type of mail you need to forward, you can make sure it gets to its destination.
Step 1: You can request a change of address from the post office.
If you want to request the form, you can either go to the post office or the website.If you only need to temporarily forward your mail, you should fill out all of the necessary information.If you go into the USPS to fill out the form, you should provide 2 forms of identification.You can either submit the form online or to a post office worker.A proof of identity is required in order to use the online change of address form from the USPS.You can apply for a change of address in the US here.
Step 2: The amount of time you want your mail to be forwarded is up to you.
The mail forwarding duration that you need can be found on the change of address form.You can choose from 15 days to 6 months.You can choose the amount of time you need your mail forwarded.If you fill out and submit the change of address form again, you can extend your forwarding service for another 6 months.
Step 3: If you only want your mail in a weekly package, you should get a premium forwarding service.
The United States Postal Service has a premium forwarding service.You can sign up for the service online for a fee of $18.45 per enrollee.To submit the form online, fill it out completely.For a minimum of 2 weeks or 1 year, the premium service can be used.Priority mail is forwarded so you don't have to wait.
Step 4: There is a black permanent marker on the cross of the old address.
To cover the address written on the envelope or package, use a thick black marker.It shouldn't be delivered to your address again.Do not include the person's name in the mail.
Step 5: If you know it, put the new address under the old one.
Write in large block letters with a black marker.If you want to write the address, put the phrase "Forward to:" above the name on the envelope.Your mail carrier will be able to read your writing.The upper left corner of the piece of mail should not be changed.If you don't know the recipient's new address, you can ask them about their current one.
Step 6: If you don't know the person's address, write it down.
Use big block letters above the person's name to write the phrase if you don't know who they are.The person who sent the mail should get it back so they can ask the recipient for their new address.It works well to get rid of junk mail.Write "Refused" on the mail instead of "Moved".
Step 7: You can either take the mail to the post office or put it in a mailbox.
Drop the mail off at the post office so they can check if the stamps are still valid.If you want your mail carrier to take it the next day, put the mail back in the mailbox.You can find USPS drop boxes here.
Step 8: If you know the person you're forwarding mail to, get in touch with them.
Give the recipient a call or send them a message if you received their mail.If you gave them a new address, they should expect the mail soon.Call the post office to inquire about the mail if they don't receive it within 2 weeks.
Step 9: You can forward your mail to another address by going to your email settings.
The settings option is located at the top of your inbox.You can either see it as a menu item or a gear-shaped icon.Click on the option that says forwarding when you access the settings.The settings option is usually listed in the top right corner.
Step 10: You can enter the email address you want your messages forwarded to.
You can add a forwarding address.You want your emails to be forwarded to another email address that you own.If you only want certain types of mail to be sent to you, you can create a filter.If you only want to receive specific types of mail on each account, you can set up mail to forward to multiple addresses.
Step 11: Make sure the message forwards by sending a test email.
When you're done, send an email to yourself or a friend.The email needs to go into the inbox on the second account to be sure.If a message doesn't make it to the new account, you should check the inbox occasionally.
Step 12: If you only want to share a single email, click the forward option.
The top bar of icons has a message you want to forward.The symbol of an envelope has an arrow pointing to the right.You can type your own message above the forwarded message by clicking the button.If you're forwarding mail from your phone, tap on the message until the pop-up menu appears.You can forward the email.
