Plantar warts are very common and can be very annoying. If you have one of these, you want it gone as soon as possible.cryotherapy is a treatment that uses cold chemicals to kill the wart. You can either use a home kit or visit the doctor if you want to freeze off your wart. The freezing process should clear your wart.
Step 1: You can get a doctor-approved wart freezing kit from a pharmacy.
You can buy these kits from any pharmacy.Smaller warts can be treated with them, but they aren't as effective as office treatments.Dr. Scholl's and Freeze Away are the only approved wart freezing kits.Follow the instructions for the home kit that you use.Different products have different steps.
Step 2: The contents need to be removed from the kit.
The basic contents of different kits are the same. The wart should be covered with a tube of liquid, a few tips, and some pads. The parts are usually in a plastic box with an instruction booklet. The tube is where the applicator is on some kits.
Step 3: Attach the tip to the spray can
The applicators are single-use on most freezing kits.Turn clockwise to tighten the tip over the freezing tube. You won't have to do this step if you use a freezing kit that has the applicator already attached. If you can't find the right spot to attach your kit, check the instructions.
Step 4: The tube should be put into the notch on the box.
Put the tube upside-down in the marked slot on the product box.Press until you hear a hissing sound. The chemicals are released so that the tip can be frozen. The pen has a cap on it.For these kits, place the cap over the tip and press it down against a solid surface to release the freezing chemicals. If you press the tube down for more than a few seconds, you will use up all the chemicals inside it.
Step 5: The tip should be held against the wart.
Pick up the tube and point it at the wart.Hold it against the wart for as long as the product tells you to.When you are done, remove it.This won't hurt, and will feel like ice on your skin. The directions for how long to hold the product against the wart varies from product to product.Follow the instructions. If you use this treatment more than the package recommends, it could lead to discoloration or scarring.
Step 6: When it is warm, remove the tip.
Don't touch the kit if it's still cold.Take it for 2 minutes to warm up, then twist it clockwise to remove it.
Step 7: To make walking easier, apply pads to the wart.
It's easier to walk after the freezing treatment if you have these pads.Press the paper against the wart. The wart needs to be replaced daily until it doesn't hurt anymore.Follow the directions in the kit's instructions.moleskin or shoe inserts can be used to cushion your foot if the kit you use doesn't have any.
Step 8: To freeze the wart, make a doctor's appointment.
You will need an appointment for thaw freezing. If you want to have a plantar wart removed, you need to tell the doctor about it.A foot doctor is the best choice if the wart is on your foot. You could also see a doctor.Wart removal should take a few minutes. You should keep in mind that freezing may not be the best treatment for your wart.If the doctor thinks a chemical peel or acid is a better option, they may use one.
Step 9: The podiatrist applies liquid nitrogen to the wart.
The doctor will inspect the wart and if freezing is the best option, apply liquid nitrogen to get the job done. They can either rub nitrogen on the wart or spray it on it.Within a few days, the wart will fall off, taking it off with it.Your doctor may number the area with local anesthesia first if liquid nitrogen treatment is painful. In some cases, the wart will be shaved before the nitrogen is applied.
Step 10: For 24 hours, keep the area dry.
If you take a bath, keep your foot out of the tub.Swimming and other wet activities will get your feet wet.The doctor can tell you how long to keep the area dry.Follow their directions to the letter.
Step 11: You can clean the blisters with soap and water.
Rub the blisters with soap when you hold them under water.Put your shoes and socks on after rinsing all the suds. This will help you avoid infections.Light pressure can be used when washing the blisters. You might be told by your doctor to use a particular type of cleanser.Always use the product they tell you to use.Unless your doctor tells you to, you don't have to keep the blisters covered.Change the bandage every day if you want to cover it.
Step 12: Until the wart heals, wear comfortable shoes with padding.
The blisters are likely to be a little painful for a few days.To make walking easier, wear your most comfortable shoes. If you want to provide extra comfort, put foot pads in your shoes. If the blisters make walking painful, try padding the area. You can find them in the foot care aisle.
Step 13: If the blisters hurts, take OTC pain relief.
Advil, naproxen, and aspirin are some of the drugs that will do the trick. If you use any medication, take it according to the directions in the package. You should always check the instructions for the medication you use.Unless your doctor tells you to, don't mix pain medications.Stick with it if you started taking it.
Step 14: If the wart doesn't go away, return to the doctor.
It is normal to need a few more freezing treatments to get rid of the wart.If the wart isn't completely gone, go back for another freezing treatment. If your foot is healing well, your doctor will want you to come in for a follow-up anyways. They will take care of you if you need further treatment.
