Every child experiences getting grounded at one point or another.Sometimes it is possible to get out of a grounded state if you show your parents a little maturity and remorse. There are some steps you can take to get ungrounded. These steps might not work for everyone, because some parents are more strict than others.
Step 1: Be respectful.
Happy parents are more likely to stick with their guns than parents who are upset with you.Show your parents some respect by doing something nice for them.If you did nothing wrong, you shouldn't try to get out of the punishment by pretending to apologize. It's better to be virtue and honesty than comfort.
Step 2: You should meet in the middle.
They will unground you if you compromise with them.If they will give you an alternative punishment, like doing extra chores or giving you a spanking, try to talk them into it.If that doesn't work, then give up, your parents will see that you are not enjoying your punishment and will think they are doing the right thing.Don't give them the silent treatment or throw a fit.The responses confirm that they are doing the right thing.
Step 3: Enjoy time with your parents.
Spend some time with your parents.Try to change the subject by spending time with your parents, instead of focusing on how mad you are about being grounded. This will help everyone forget how upset they are.
Step 4: Do your work.
You will be surprised by your parents.Your parents will be happy if you do your chores. If not doing your chores is what got you grounded, this is a really good idea.
Step 5: Accept the responsibility.
Apologize to your parents for what you've done.Whatever you did, try to solve the problem or counteract it.You didn't complete a task.Don't blame someone else.Your parents will know that you are responsible for your actions. It is better to accept the punishment than to try to get out of it.I know I made a mistake, and I'm very sorry.I will work hard not to repeat what I did in the future because I see now that it was wrong.
Step 6: Do your homework.
If you show your parents that you're trying to improve your grades, they'll be more likely to trust you.Your parents will see that you are thinking about the future when you work on your schoolwork.
Step 7: Help your parents.
If you can help your parents with anything else, ask.Help your dad in the garage or give your mom a hand with dinner.Take your dog for a walk.Do anything you can to show your parents that you are helpful and responsible.
Step 8: Enjoy being grounded.
Make the best of your situation, if your parents don't unground you.Being grounded isn't always boring. You should find out what your parents will allow you to do.Try playing with your siblings. If you want to bake cookies with your mom, spend some time outdoors.Go for a hike or play a board game with your family.
Step 9: Don't try to get your parents to do things.
You might get a longer punishment if you keep nagging. It will show your parents you aren't ready to be ungrounded and that you have learned your lesson.
Step 10: Try to be thankful.
Instead of focusing on what you don't have, think about all the things you do have: a roof over your head, parents who love you enough to discipline you, etc. When you are ungrounded, be thankful that you can still participate in the things you enjoy.Your parents helped you learn from your mistakes. It's important to actually say the words.Say thank you to your parents for helping you.
Step 11: Learn from your mistakes.
Promise your parents that you'll never do it again if you repeat the same action that got you grounded.Don't try to get out of being grounded.
Step 12: You should express your remorse.
If you apologize to your parents for what you've done, they'll remember it in the future.I know I broke your trust with my actions, so start the conversation with something like that.I apologize and I hope you will forgive me.
Step 13: Positive change is possible.
Show your parents that you care by showing them positive behavior. If your parents approve of the choices you are making, you won't be grounded.
