You can learn how to create each of the pre-hardmode characters in Terraria.The characters can be created by completing objectives or meeting certain criteria.
Step 1: You can create a house.
You will need one house per NPC if you want to encourage them to start spawning.To make a good NPC house, you need to put it away from the Corruption and Crimson biomes.Don't use more than 750 tiles.Blocks, Doors, Platforms, and/or Tall Gates can be used to build side walls.Blocks, Trap Doors, and/or platforms can be used to build horizontal walls.There should be at least one solid block that isn't touching any walls.A 2-by-3 space is required for modern console and computer editions.It is recommended that you use at least one entrance.Player-crafted background walls don't count.There should be some form of lighting.
Step 2: Wait for the guide to appear.
Once you're in a new game, the Guide will appear, but he won't move into your dwelling until it's suitable for a real person.The Guide doesn't sell anything, but he will provide tips for you, as well as crafting recipes on PC and modern console editions.
Step 3: The merchant is needed.
You must have at least 50 silver in your inventory in order to be a merchant.Smash pots and kill as many enemies as possible to gather silver.Basic tools and items are sold by the merchant.
Step 4: Get the nurse.
You must consume a Crystal Heart if you want to get the Nurse because you must have more than 100 health at some point.You will need a pickaxe, a drill, or explosives to break Crystal Hearts in the Underground Jungle.Negative status effects will be erased by the Nurse.Crystal Hearts can't be found in The Underworld or the dungeon.
Step 5: Acquire the demolitionist.
If you have an explosives item in your inventory, the demolitionist will show up.You can combine three explosives with one wire.You can buy explosives from the demolitionist.Bombs, grenades, and other explosives can only be found in the Underground layer.
Step 6: The Dye Trader is needed.
After defeating any pre-Hardmode boss or finding a Strange Plant, you need to place a dye item in your inventory in order to create the Dye Trader.Bring rare plants to the Dye Trader on modern consoles or the PC edition of Terraria and he will reward you with dyes.The 3DS version of Terraria does not include the Dye Trader.
Step 7: The Dryad should be summoned.
The Dryad can only be spawned by defeating any boss other than King Slime or the Wall of Flesh.Natural items are sold by the Dryad.The Dryad can tell you how much has been corrupted.
Step 8: The tavern keep needs to be attracted.
You have to kill either the Brain of Cthulu or the Eater of Worlds in order for him to appear, but he won't be in your house until you find and talk to him.The Tavernkeep is only available on the computer.The Old One's Army boss fight will be easier if you buy items from the Tavernkeep.
Step 9: Get the arms dealer.
Finding and picking up bullets is the easiest way to get the Arms Dealer unlocked.The occasional Musket can be found by breaking pots.The Arms Dealer sells firearms.
Step 10: It's time to bring in the hairdresser.
You can talk to the stylist to get her to show up in the world.The 3DS version of Terraria doesn't feature the Stylist.The Cavern has Spider Nests.You can buy hair dyes from the store.
Step 11: Obtain the painting.
If you follow the above steps, you will be able to get the Painter at this point in the game if you have gathered 7 (desktop, modern console, and legacy console editions) or 4 (3DS and mobile editions).The painter sells his wares.You can buy wallpaper from him.
Step 12: Wrangle the fisherman.
You can find the Angler by traveling to an ocean-based area.If you interact with him, he will wake up and be able to move to one of your houses.The Angler gives fishing quests for which he rewards you, but he doesn't sell items like the other ones.
Step 13: The Goblin Tinkerer is for sale.
After defeating a Goblin Invasion, the Goblin Tinkerer is found in the Cavern layer.You can untie the Goblin Tinkerer if you speak to him.At least one player in the game must have at least 200 health to play during the daytime after a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart has been destroyed.The item will be sold by the Goblin Tinkerer.He can repair broken items.
Step 14: The witch doctor should be summoned.
Killing the Queen Bee will prompt the Witch Doctor to appear in your house if the house is suitable.The Blowgun, Imbuing Station, Fountains, and other items are sold by the Witch Doctor.
Step 15: Get the Clothier.
The clothier can be found in your house once you beat the Skeletron boss.The Clothier has clothes and other items.You cannot fight Skeletron during the day.
Step 16: Find the mechanic.
After defeating Skeletron, you'll find the Mechanic in the dungeon and she's going to go to one of your vacant houses if you talk to her.The wrench and wire cutter are sold by the Mechanic.
Step 17: Get the girl.
The Party Girl, who sells colorful items and furniture, has a 2.5 percent chance of spawning each morning after you've gathered 13 other NPCs (desktop, modern console, and 3DS editions) or 8 other others.No one is waiting for you to move into your house.
