How To Get Rid of Yellow Nails

When you want to give your nails breathing time in between polishes, stained and yellowed nails can be very unattractive.Simple household items and some sensible nail care can be used to treat and prevent yellowed fingernails.

Step 1: Remove nailpolish.

You can use a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover to remove nailpolish from your nails.Rub each nail with the cotton ball and the polish will be completely dissolved.Without a coat of polish or varnish, the nails have to be bare in order to treat yellowed nails. You can see the stained areas of your nails once all nail polish is removed.

Step 2: Take care of your nails.

To lightly sand off the topmost layer of your nails, use a buffing board. The buffing board should be rubbed on the surface of your nail.Your clean nail can be exposed by this light buffing.Make sure you place your nail to the left and right so that you are buffing the sides of the nail. For about 10 seconds, buff each nail. The stained layer of your nail needs to be removed.

Step 3: It's a good idea to rub lemon on your nails.

Rub the inside of the lemon onto your nails.Rub the lemon on the nails for 30 seconds to 1 minute.Allow your nails to absorb the lemon juice and dry for 10 minutes after you have rubbed them with lemon. If your hands and nails have been soaked in lemon juice, you should apply a balm to them to keep them from drying out.The lemon juice lightens your nails in the same way it can lighten your hair if it is sprayed on and exposed to the sun.You can apply lemon juice directly to your nails by squeezing it into a bowl and using a cotton ball.

Step 4: Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can be used to scrub your nails.

If you want to make a paste-like mixture, mix 1 percent hydrogen peroxide with 2 percent baking soda.Rub the paste onto your nails with an old toothbrush.Rub your nails with this mixture and then rinse them off with water. After using this solution, be sure to wash your face.It will dry out your hands.Adding a few drops of lemon juice to this paste will give it even more power.Adding hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mix to a cup of water will create a soak.

Step 5: Whitening toothpaste should be applied to your nails.

You can apply a thin layer of toothpaste to your nails. You can rub the toothpaste on your nails with your fingers or toothbrush.Allow the toothpaste to sit on your nails for 10 minutes, and then rinse it off with clean water. You can keep your hands and nails hydrated by applying lotion after rinsing off toothpaste.

Step 6: Whiten your nails.

Drop denture cleaning tables into a bowl of water and soak your nails in the water for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, use a paper towel to dry your hands. It's possible to soak your nails in this solution a couple times a month, but be sure to do it when you're not using nailpolish.

Step 7: There is tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil can help with the discoloration of your nails if they are yellowed because of a nail fungus rather than constant use of nail polish.Apply a couple drops of tea tree oil to each nail twice a day, and use your fingers to massage the oil all over your nails.Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and can be used to fight the yellowing of your nails.

Step 8: You should consult a medical professional.

If your nails are severely yellowed, or the yellow coloring doesn't improve with any of these methods, you may have yellow nail syndrome.A medical professional will be able to assess your situation, and may prescribe a medication to treat your yellowed nails.Yellowed nails can be treated with zinc supplements. If you don't have a medical condition that causes your nails to yellow, you may have to wait for them to grow out.

Step 9: Apply a base coat.

Before you apply your colored polish, apply a clear base coat to all of your nails. The thin layer of base coat acts as a barrier to the dyes in the colored polish that can stain your nails and turn them yellow.Allow the base coat to dry for about 5 minutes before painting them.A base coat is an anchor for colored polish.

Step 10: Avoid dark nailpolish.

If the polish has direct contact with your nails, it can cause problems. It is possible to prevent this color staining by applying a base coat, but you should always opt for lighter polish colors.Lighter or sheer nail polish colors can give your nails a break from the harsh dyes found in darker polishes. If you want to use a darker color, be sure to protect your nails with a good quality base coat.

Step 11: Go without nailpolish.

Try not to use nailpolish on your nails.Allow your nails to be completely nude for 3-4 days every few weeks.Going without nail polish for a few days will allow your nails to be exposed to air before being painted over again.
