Waves make your hair look like a wave.No matter what texture your hair is, you can train waves.Waves take a lot of time, effort, and product, but you will be able to rock a unique hairstyle within a couple months.
Step 1: Your hair is 4 in (1.9 cm) long if you get a haircut.
You can get your head trimmed at a barber shop.Waves need to be trained in order to have an effect. The process may be more difficult if they cut your hair shorter or longer.Waves will not form in the back or near your sideburns if you fade your hair there.
Step 2: You need to wash your hair.
It's a good idea to wash your hair with a lather.Warm water in the shower is good for hair.If your hair is wet, rinse it out and pat it dry.If you can find one, you should get it.You can use regular shampoo if that's what you need.
Step 3: Put a small amount of conditioner or pomade into your hair.
Warm the pomade or conditioner in your hands before applying it to your hair. The product should be spread evenly through your hair. This helps keep your hair dry.If you use leave-in conditioner, don't rinse it out.Wave grease is a product meant for forming waves on your head.
Step 4: You can use a brush to comb your hair.
The brushing flattens your hair against your head. The front of your hair should be combed towards your face. The back and sides of your hair should be brushed downward with a stiff-bristled brush. For the best results, follow the direction that your hair naturally grows. For at least 15 minutes, brush your hair.Waves in your hair can be started with some brushes. You can buy one at your local barbershop or online.
Step 5: Wear a do-rag.
Wrap the ties behind your head when you put on the do-rag.Before tying a knot in the back, tighten the ties around the front of the do-rag.Your waves are in place if you keep your do-rag on.Do-rags can be found in department stores. If you don't have a do-rag, you can wear a stocking cap.
Step 6: Every day, brush your waves in 4 15-minute sessions.
To train your waves, split your brushing sessions throughout the day. Before you go to bed, do at least 1 session in the morning and night.Every time you brush your hair, make sure to use a hydrating product, such as conditioner or shea oil.For 30 minutes after each brushing session, put on your do-rag.Your waves will grow faster if you brush your hair more.
Step 7: Make sure your waves stay in place by sleeping with your do-rag on.
After brushing your hair, tie a do-rag around your head so it doesn't move while you sleep. It is recommended that you keep the do-rag on for the entire night. If you are worried about it falling off in the middle of the night, put a tight headband around your do-rag.Sleeping without a do-rag can make it hard to form waves.
Step 8: For 3-4 weeks, let your waves grow out.
Allow your hair and waves to develop for 3-4 weeks. If you don't brush your hair every day you'll lose the defined edges on your waves. If the product builds up, continue to use a light product like shea oil. This process is called wolfing.
Step 9: Your barber will give you a haircut every 4 weeks.
Let your barber know that you are training waves into your hair so they know how to cut it.If you want to keep forming waves, you should get your hair cut back down to 4 inch (1.9 cm), leaving an extra inch at your crown. If you don't want a full head of waves, you can add fades to the front, back or sides.
Step 10: It's a good idea to keep your hair clean.
Even if your waves are well-defined, use a product in your hair to keep it soft and healthy.Continue brushing your hair and wear a do-rag to keep your waves in place.
Step 11: You should wash your hair every day.
On one day, wash and care for your hair. When you take a shower, only rinse your hair.Between each wash, you have time to set your waves. It's important to brush your hair after you wash it.
