In Mexico and the US cayenne peppers are used to make food spicy.Capsicum annuum can be grown outdoors in sandy, acidic soil. The harvest of these peppers can be reduced the second year, so they are often replanted. The best place to grow cayenne peppers is in zones 9 to 11.You can learn how to grow cayenne peppers.
Step 1: Determine where you will grow peppers.
You should grow them outside if you live in a hot climate.People who have cold weather should grow them in a container where they can be moved indoors and out in the heat.If you plan to plant them in a container, choose a pot with drainage holes. You can irrigate the soil well by placing a shallow dish below the pot.
Step 2: If it's not 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) outside, plant seeds in a grow pack.
cayenne peppers grow best at a constant heat of 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (24 to 29 degrees Celsius), which is often too hot for places that frost or even regular indoor temperatures.Put your pepper seeds in a glass of water. You can fill your grow packs up to 1/2 inch from the top of the back with commercial seed starting mix.Place cayenne pepper seeds in each cell.Place them evenly. There is a cover for the seed potting mix.The soil needs to be moist. The grow pack should be covered with plastic wrap.It can be placed on a windowsill or on the top of the refrigerator. The soil needs to be damped over the next few weeks.Over the next few weeks, thin your plants. When they get their first leaves, cut off the weakest one. When they form 2 sets of leaves, cut off all but one seedling.Once there is no risk of frost, this seedling should be ready to grow.
Step 3: Change your soil.
If you want to plant a garden, you need a bed that gets at least 8 hours of sunlight per day.Adding compost is a must if you plan to plant pepper plants outside. The soil needs to be slightly acidic.Adding aluminum sulfate can increase the acidity of the soil.If you want to plant in a container, you can buy potting mix from a gardening store. It is possible to make your own mix with even ratios of moss, sand and loam. The mix needs to be sterized in the oven for an hour.Place it in a shallow pan and heat it up.
Step 4: There are small holes to be dug in your garden to plant your seeds.
The hole needs to be wider to allow the roots to spread out.You don't want to compact the soil by pushing it down if you are planting in a container.
Step 5: The pepper plant can be removed from the grow pack.
You can loosen it by pinching the side of the pack.
Step 6: The root ball should be placed in the small hole.
There should be soil atop the roots.Once the dirt settles, you may need to add more soil to the cayenne plant. You should fill a container with soil up to 1.5 inches from the top of the pot.
Step 7: Irrigate the soil with water.
When the top inch of soil is dry, you should water the plants.Sprinkle the pot with water if you want it to come out of the saucer at the bottom.
Step 8: You should weed around your pepper plants.
You might want to place mulch around them to keep the soil moist.
Step 9: Place the cayenne pepper plant outdoors during the day when the temperature is over 60 degrees.
It will get at least 8 hours of sunlight per day if it is placed in a sunny window. If you have metal siding that reflects heat, place your pepper plant next to it during the day.More fruit will be produced by the increase in temperature.
Step 10: The stems of the cayenne peppers can be cut if they mature to between 3 and 6 inches.
It is better to pick the peppers. After 70 and 80 days, cayenne peppers start to develop.
