There are many ways to cook corn.Corn on the cob can be boiled, microwaved, grilled, steamed, or baked.You can learn more about your preferred cooking method.
Step 1: The stockpot of water should be boiled.
The corn cobs should be prepared by removing the husks and silks.Depending on the size of the corn, the amount of water you need will be different.Make sure you use enough water to cover the ears of corn.If you want to add salt to the water, it's not necessary.The stem of the corn should be snapped off with your hands.Pull the stem over the corn to remove the husks.You can remove the husks with your fingers.Under running water, rinse the corn cobs.Rub your hands over the corn to free it from the threads.
Step 2: The corn should be put in the water.
Allow the pot to return to boiling.Corn can be dunked into the water.Don't use your hands to transfer corn since it may cause burns.If the boiling stops after you place the corn in the stockpot, allow the water to reach a boiling point again before you cook.
Step 3: Cook for a few minutes.
When the corn is done, it should be tender-crisp.The corn is soft enough to press, but not squishy.The amount of cooking time depends on how mature the corn is.Sweet corn and fresh corn cook quickly.
Step 4: Remove and serve.
Allow the ears of corn to drain on clean paper towels for 30 to 60 seconds before serving.You should wait a few minutes before eating the corn because it will be hot.Corn is usually served with butter.
Step 5: An ear of corn can be microwaved.
The instructions for each ear are the same, but you will need to cook the corn one ear at a time.Don't remove the husk.The corn will cook better in the microwave if the husk is left.
Step 6: For 5 minutes, microwave the corn.
The microwave needs to be on full power or high power.If you want to avoid burning yourself with the steam, stand in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 7: The corn should be put on a cutting board.
The stem end can be cut with a kitchen knife.Remove the corn from the microwave with a towel or oven mitt.The first row of kernels should be removed as you cut.It's important to cut through the husk completely.
Step 8: Take the corn out of its husk and serve it.
If you want to grab hold of the corn, use a towel or oven mitt.Allow the corn to slip free by shaking the ear.The husk should allow the ear of corn to slip out.The silks will usually remain inside the husks.You can serve the corn with butter or salt.
Step 9: The grill should be at a medium-high heat.
Remove the husks and silks from the corn.Allow the grill to preheat for 5 to 10 minutes if you use a gas grill.If using a charcoal grill, allow a thick layer of coals to burn until white ash forms over the surface.Remove the husk from the corn by snapping it off the stem and pulling it over the length.Use your fingers to remove the rest of the husk.Most of the loose silks can be removed by rinsing the ears.
Step 10: The corn should be rubbed with olive oil.
A thin coat of olive oil should be applied to each ear of corn.Use no more than 15 mL of olive oil per ear.You could use butter instead of olive oil.
Step 11: The corn should be put on the grill.
You can cook for 6 to 10 minutes.The corn should be turned occasionally to cook and prevent burning.Once the majority of the corn is brown, it's done.It will be charred near the smaller kernels.
Step 12: Serve as you please.
Remove the corn from the grill and serve it on a platter.You can handle it with your bare hands.If you use butter on the corn before grilling it, you don't need to add more.
Step 13: Water should be boiled in the bottom part of the steamer.
As you wait, husk and de-silk the corn.If you don't have an actual steamer, you can use a large stockpot and metal colander.Before attempting to use the metal colander, make sure it rests on the lip of the stockpot.The stockpot should not be below the halfway point of the basket portion.Remove the stem of the corn and remove the husk from the ear.Use your fingers to remove the rest of the husk.Remove the corn from the water with your hands.The majority of the silks should be removed.
Step 14: The corn will be put in the basket.
It takes 8 to 12 minutes to cook.To get the corn into the basket, use tongs.If you use your hands, it could cause burns.The cooking time depends on how mature the corn is.Older corn cooks quicker than fresh corn.Once the corn feels tender, it's done.
Step 15: It's warm to serve warm.
Take the corn out of the steamer and let it rest for a minute or two.If you want, add butter and salt.
Step 16: The temperature in the oven should be at least 220 degrees Celsius.
As the oven preheats, remove the husks and silks from each ear of corn.Use your hands to remove the husk from the corn.Remove the broken stem from the ear.You can remove the rest of the husk with your fingers.To remove silks from corn cobs, rinse them under running water and scrub with your hands.Dry with paper towels.
Step 17: Put butter on the ears.
If you want, you can add salt and pepper.Use a lot of butter.Spread melted butter over each ear.
Step 18: Wrap each ear with foil.
Each ear must be wrapped with foil.If you are worried about butter leaking out from the aluminum foil, place a flat baking sheet or jelly-roll pan beneath the wrapped ears of corn to catch any dripping butter.
Step 19: For between 20 and 30 minutes.
It will take 20 minutes to cook the corn, but larger ears need as much as 30 minutes.The corn should be placed on the middle rack of the oven.
Step 20: Remove and serve.
Carefully remove the aluminum foil after the corn has rested for 2 to 5 minutes.Once they are cool, serve them.
Step 21: Water can be boiled in a saucepan.
Measure out your frozen corn.If you want to add salt to the boiling water, it's not necessary.The corn doesn't need to be frozen.canned corn could be used instead of frozen corn.The amount of time required to boil canned corn is less than the amount needed to cook frozen corn.Adding canned corn to the boiling water will cause it to be drained.
Step 22: The corn should be put in the water.
The water should come up to a boil if the boiling stops.The heat should be reduced to medium-low after it returns to a rolling boil.
Step 23: It's a good idea to cover and cook.
The corn should be cooked for 5 to 10 minutes.Once finished, drain.For 1 to 3 minutes, canned corn should be boiled.The corn should be hot and tender.
Step 24: You can serve it as you please.
After cooking corn kernels, do not refreeze them.You can mix cooked corn with butter, salt, and black pepper.parsley can be used according to your tastes.
Step 25: The water should be in a steamer.
The lower part of the steamer should be filled with water and heat, on the stove, over medium heat until the water starts to boil.The water should not be boiled.Water can get into the steamer basket if it's not filled high enough.If you don't have a steamer, you can use a stockpot and metal colander.The stockpot has a lip, so make sure the colander fits over it.
Step 26: The corn is in the steamer basket.
The kernels should be spread into a single layer.In a shorter amount of time, canned corn kernels can be used.Once finished, they may be soggier.You don't need to thaw frozen corn kernels.
Step 27: For 9 to 10 minutes, cook.
Allow the corn to steam without covering it.Once finished, drain.The kernels can be steam for 3 or 4 minutes.
Step 28: It's time to serve.
Butter and salt can be used to serve steamed corn.
Step 29: Corn is placed in a microwave-safe dish.
Spread the frozen corn in the dish.There are differences in the cooking method and length of canned corn kernels.It's not necessary to thaw frozen corn prior to cooking.
Step 30: 2 to 4 Tbsp (30 to 60 mL) of water can be added.
The water should be put into the corn.This step is only needed if the corn is frozen.You don't need to add water if you use canned corn.
Step 31: Wrap the dish in plastic.
To poke a few holes in the plastic wrap, use a fork.Plastic wrap is safe to use in the microwave.The cover on the dish could be used instead of the plastic wrap.Make sure that the cover on the dish is not too loose.
Step 32: The microwave can be used for 4 to 5 minutes.
Only microwave the dish for 1 to 2 minutes if you use canned corn.The length of time depends on how much power your microwave has.A lower-powered microwave will need more time than a higher powered microwave.Stop the microwave early if you hear popping sounds as the corn cooks.
Step 33: You should drain and serve.
Season the corn with butter, salt, and pepper after draining the cooking liquid.
Step 34: Remove the tip of the corn.
The corn should be soaked in tap water for about an hour.
Step 35: Prepare your grill while they're soaking.
For an hour of cooking, add enough coals.
Step 36: Put the corn in the husks on the grill.
Allow the husks to char for about an hour.
Step 37: The husks should be removed.
Step 38: You can add butter, salt and pepper to it.
