Bra straps that slip off the shoulders can be unattractive.By wearing a properly fitted bra and adjusting the straps to fit just right, you can help prevent straps from slipping.
Step 1: If it works with your clothing, try a strap clip.
If your strap keeps slipping, you might have narrow shoulders. If this is the case, you can recreate the look of a racerback bra by using a special bra clip.Attach the clip to the other strap by sliding it onto one strap. There are bra clips where intimate apparel is sold, and a pack can be as low as $5.If you don't have a strap clip, use a paperclip. You just have to slide the paperclip onto the straps.
Step 2: The bra strap cushion can be used to keep the straps in place.
If your bra straps dig into your skin, a cushion will keep them in place. The cushions are between your bra straps and your shoulders. Most department stores and places that sell intimate apparel will sell these for $10-$15.
Step 3: Attach your straps to your shirt with a safety pin.
If the straps are pinned in place, they can't slip.Attach your bra straps to the shoulder seams with small safety pins. The pins should be hidden by the seams. If the pin is large, you can loop the safety pin around your bra strap.
Step 4: Fashion tape can be used to stick bra straps to your skin.
Your bra straps will attach to your skin with fashion tape.Attach one side of the double-sided tape to the underside of your bra strap, and the other side to your skin to hold it in place. You can find fashion tape in lingerie and department stores, or you can buy it online.A roll of fashion tape costs between $8 and $12.
Step 5: It's a good idea to hold your bra on the loosest hook.
When you hook your bra, it's natural to tighten it as much as you can, but this can cause the band to stretch. If you have a loose band, choose a bra that fits well on the last hook.Your bra will expand over time. When your bra feels loose beneath your bust, move to the next hook.
Step 6: You can fit one finger under the bra straps if you tighten them.
To provide proper support, your straps should be tight enough to stay in place, but not so tight that they pull your bra band out of place. The straps are too tight if they leave marks on your skin after you take off your bra.If you want to tighten your bra straps, you have to move the plastic slide. You should be able to slide one finger under the strap.
Step 7: You should keep the back of your bra.
Pull your bra down below your shoulder blades if you reach to the back of the bra.The straps fall when the bra back is too high.
Step 8: To prevent straps from slipping, make sure you wear the right size bra.
It will be easier to find a bra that fits if you know your bra size.Even if you know your size, you should still try on bras to make sure they are the right size since there may be size differences between styles or manufacturers. The straps aren't pulled tight enough if there's too much room in the cups or band.
Step 9: If you have a non-padded bra, put it on.
If you want to have a bra that lifts your breasts, make sure you don't add padding to the size.If you don't have a bra, you can take your measurement without one.
Step 10: Measure under your bust.
Measure beneath your bust using a measuring tape.Pull the measuring tape taut but not tight enough to get into your skin.Round the measurement up to the next whole number if you get a fraction. If it's an odd number, add 4 to the measurement. The band size is what the number is for.Your band size will be 36 if your under bust measurement is 31 inches.
Step 11: Measure around the fullest point of your bust.
The nipple line is the fullest part of your breasts.Pull the tape measure so that it is tight enough to rest against you all the way around. The measurement should be up to the nearest whole number.Round your bust up to 34.
Step 12: Subtract your bust size from your under bust measurement.
The cup size is determined by the difference in your bust measurement and under cup measurement. You can use the original under bust measurement instead of the calculated band size. The cup sizes are not the same.If the measurement difference is 1 then your cup size is A, if 2 then B and so on.In the previous examples, you would subtract 31 from 34 to get 3, which would make your measurement a 36C.
Step 13: There are bras with supportive straps.
The lacy straps don't offer much support.Sturdy material with secure seams is what to look for.Non-slip support may be offered by padded straps.
Step 14: Try a racerback bra.
Racerback bras close in front, keeping the straps in place more securely. The straps on a racerback bra may show above the back of some shirts, so either choose one with a decorative design that you want to show off or wear a high-necked shirt
Step 15: If you have problems with slipping straps, avoid push-up bras.
When you're not wearing bras, they keep their shape. If you have a problem with your straps slipping, they might not be the best option.Your breasts are in the bottom of the cup when you wear a bra.The support on your straps can loosen if there is a gap in the top of the cup.
Step 16: If you are going to be active, wear a sports bra.
A supportive sports bra can make you feel better if you exercise or play sports.Heavy-duty sports bras are designed to stay in place so you won't have to worry about straps slipping down your arms while you're in spin class.
