Killing a stink bug can be messy and unpleasant, since many methods will cause the bug to release an extremely stinky odor.Soapy water is one of the least messy and most effective methods to use, but other organic and chemical pesticides also exist.More physical methods can be used to kill insects. You should know how to kill stink bugs.
Step 1: The jar should be filled with water and detergent.
To cover the bottom of the jar, add enough liquid dish soap.Stir the warm water into the half of the jar.Any liquid dish soap will work, even if it is mild or has more chemicals in it.The right size container depends on how many stink bugs you want to capture. If you only plan on killing a few pests, a small cup or ramekin is enough, but a larger jar or small bucket is needed if you want to take care of a lot of pests at the same time.
Step 2: There is a stink bug in the jar.
If you see a stink bug, take it off its post with a popsicle stick or a chopstick and put it in a soapy solution.Work quickly.Stink bugs can fly if you don't flick them off in one fell swoop.Stink bugs can drown in 20 to 40 seconds. The bugs suffocate when soap plugs their pores, which are beneath their exterior shells. You could use disposable gloves to pick up stink bugs. You could use tweezers to pick them up.Picking them up directly ensures that they will not be able to escape, but they may release their odor if you don't work quickly.
Step 3: The dead bugs need to be flushed.
After you collect a few stink bugs in your soapy water, flush the jar down the toilet to dispose of the bugs and the dirty water.Wait until you collect a few stink bugs in order to save water.
Step 4: The spray bottle should be filled with soapy water.
Combine warm water with liquid dish detergent.Any liquid dish detergent will work no matter what chemicals are added to it.Make sure the soap and water are in the bottle by shaking it.
Step 5: The solution can be sprayed on bugs.
If you suspect the stink bugs will come in, apply the solution to the area and use the spray on the bugs. The soap with react with the waxy coating on the stink bug, breaking that coating down and ultimately dehydrating the pest, even though this does not work as quickly as drown the insects.Stink bugs can enter through cracks, windows, doors, and vents. The solution should be sprayed around those areas so that stink bugs will die.
Step 6: Be aware of the risks.
There are health risks and other potentially negative consequences when using traditional pesticides to kill stink bugs.Humans and pets can be harmed by insecticides.Follow the application instructions on the label and keep them out of the reach of small children and pets. The delayed effect of residual dust treatments can cause stink bugs to die in hard-to-reach places. The dead bugs may be attracted to your home by the carpet beetles.Stink bugs that enter the area after the room is aired out will not be killed by aerosol foggers.Only use pesticides labeled to kill stink bugs.If you don't choose a chemical that is effective against these pests, you will be at risk.
Step 7: You can spray the stink bug.
Stink bugs can be sprayed with a "kills on contact" aerosol insecticide."on contact" is not instantaneous as the term would suggest. After the stink bug's nervous system is attacked by these chemicals, it can take several hours before the bug dies.
Step 8: Residual pesticides should be applied.
If you suspect the stink bugs are hiding in the area, sprinkle or spray the product. It's best to use residual sprays along window sills, doorways, and baseboards. When dusting the attic, crawl spaces, or interior wall space, residual dusts work better.
Step 9: It's a good idea to use a perimeter insecticide outdoors.
A residual pesticide can be sprayed around your home's foundation. If a stink bug enters your home for the first time, you will be killed.
Step 10: A nicotine solution can be used.
A pack of shredded cigarettes should be soaked in warm water.Add 2 Tbsp of dish detergent to the solution after it has been strained. If you want to coat the stink bug, fill a spray bottle with this solution. The solution from the liquid dish detergent can stick to the insect and the nicotine can kill the stink bug.As you work with nicotine, make sure to wear disposable gloves.
Step 11: Paralyze bugs.
Attack the stink bugs with spray paint to stop them from moving. The stink bug won't be killed by the spray alone, but it will be difficult to apply a chemical that will kill it.It's important to use the stickiest spray possible.Cheap brands are usually stickier than expensive brands.
Step 12: The bugs can be killed with rubbing alcohol, bleach, or ammonia.
As you come across the stink bugs, fill a glass jar halfway with one of these chemicals and knock or drop them into it.Do not mix these chemicals. The fumes that are deadly to humans can be produced by combining these chemicals. The stink bugs can be knocked into the solution using a popsicle stick or a gloved hand. You could put one part rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.Attack stink bugs with this solution. The alcohol will destroy the insect once it wears away at the exterior.
Step 13: Wart removal is the best way to kill the bug.
Buy a can of freeze away wart removal and spray it on the stink bug.All you need to do is flush the bug down the toilet.
Step 14: The stink bug should be sprayed with hot sauce.
Put hot sauce or liquified hot peppers in a spray bottle. When you see the stink bug, squirt it with the spicy insecticide. If mishandled, hot peppers can burn human skin and eyes. The stink bug can be destroyed by the burn away of the peppers. You should wash your hands after handling hot peppers and hot sauce.
Step 15: Drop candle wax on the stink bug.
A single drop of candle wax removal can be placed on the back of a stink bug.The insect should die within a couple of minutes. It is possible to apply the candle wax remover to the stink bug without capturing it, but be aware that accidentally getting the remover onto carpet or other surfaces can cause a stain. If you want to get the best results, trap the insect inside a glass jar or use hair spray. The candle wax removal strips away the waxy coating on the inside of the stink bug's shell.
Step 16: White vinegar can be used.
Use a container that is not too large to store the white vinegar. The stink bug can be captured using an empty medicine container with cap and gloves.Put the bug or bugs in the water. They die without releasing their bomb. The creatures need to be flushed down the toilet.
Step 17: The stink bug needs to be vacuumed up.
If you see stink bugs, suck them up using an upright vacuum with a bag.Stink bugs will cause the vacuum to stink for several weeks. To minimize the effect, sprinkle the interior of the vacuum with a strong deodorizer.Do not use bagless vacuum cleaners. After you've sucked up the bugs, use vacuums with bags to dispose of the bag.Wrap a knee-high stocking around the vacuum tube and secure it with a rubber band.Stuff the rest of the stocking into the tube. The bugs will not be able to pass through the vacuum filter.
Step 18: An insect electrocution system can be set up.
A bug zapper can be placed in a dark attic.Stink bugs are attracted to sources of light. The light of the electrocution system becomes more appealing to stink bugs if it is placed in a dark room. They are instantly killed when they approach the light. You should sweep or vacuum up dead stink bugs after a while.
Step 19: Put out glue traps.
Flypaper or other sticky traps can be spread near windows. The stink bugs can be caught on the traps. The insects will starve to death if they can't find food. After you have gathered stink bugs, throw out the glue trap.Stink bugs may release their odor when they get stuck to the trap.
Step 20: The insects should be frozen to death.
The stink bugs can be trapped in a bag or container. If you want to kill them, put the container in the freezer. The container or bag should have a tight seal. The contents of your freezer are at risk.
Step 21: If you want the bug to kill itself on its own toxic emissions, put a glass over it.
Pick up the glass. There is a dead bug in the garbage. You can see the brown fumes if you do this outside.
