Maggots usually feed for 3 to 5 days in their early stages. They are notable for their small size and white color during this time. They are difficult to kill without proper tools.A combination of chemical, natural, and preventative techniques can help you get rid of them.
Step 1: Medium-sized hordes should be sprayed with a water-based permethrin spray.
Permethrin is a synthetic chemical that is used to kill insects.2 to 3 sprays of permethrin is enough to kill the flies.Permethrin is found in liquid and cream products.Put 4 parts boiling water with 1 part permethrin dog shampoo in a container. You should apply your spray or permethrin mixture from the source. The entire affected area will be prevented from returning by this measure.Permethrin is safe for use in human hair, but be careful not to get it in your eyes, ears, nose, or mouth.Immediately flush or clean it if you do.Cats and fish can be killed by Permethrin and synthetic pyrethroids.
Step 2: Put bleach and water into a bowl.
In a plastic or metal bowl, mix 1 cup (0.24 L) of bleach with a cup of water. If you're dumping the mixture on the ground, make sure to hit all of them with the maggots. If you're dumping bleach into a trash can, close the lid and let the fumes kill the flies. Before you open the can, make sure the bleach is sitting for 30 minutes. After clearing out the affected area, pour another bowl of bleach over it.
Step 3: The standard bug killer can be sprayed with stray maggots.
Although they aren't as effective as permethrin, pest sprays will eventually kill flies.Hold down the Trigger for about 2 seconds at a time and give 2 to 3 sprays. It may take 30 minutes or more for it to start working. There are bug sprays that act as fumigators, wasp, and hornet killers, as well as ant and roach killers.Bug killer sprays can be purchased at big-box stores. If possible, select products that contain permethrin.
Step 4: Chemical solutions can be used as alternatives to pesticides.
If you apply 5 or 6 sprays, they will last about 2 seconds each. You can mix a multi-surface or all-purpose cleaner with boiling water. After that, pour it over the flies.Use multi- surface cleaners and all-purpose cleaners.
Step 5: Apply household chemical to large trash cans.
Chemicals that are effective are motor oil or brake cleaner.1 to 2 gallons of hot water is enough to mix 1 cup of carburetor cleaner. After disposing of the trash, dump the mixture into your trash can.Allow the toxic fumes and hot water to work their magic for about an hour. The dead insects should be thrown into a dumpster or garbage can.Only use the cleaner as a last resort.Proper clothing and gloves are required.Do not mix the two.A mixture of gases can be harmful if breathed in or exposed to the skin.
Step 6: If you want a simple solution, pour boiling water onto your flies.
The water should be boiled for 5 minutes.Carefully pour it into the regions. If you have your gnats in a garbage bin or crawl space, this method is useful. The garbage was being fed on by the flies.Keep the garbage bin closed. This method can lead to structural damage and mold growth, so don't use it on your walls or carpet.
Step 7: The maggots will be dehydrate slowly if the diatomaceous earth is Sprinkled over them.
There is a wide range of applications for diatomaceous earth. To completely cover the maggots, sprinkle enough diatomaceous earth. It will cause them to die from water pressure deficiency.Department stores and home hardware stores sell diatomaceous earth.
Step 8: If you want a fast solution, mix water and cinnamon.
Slowly pour 1/6 cinnamon and 1/6 water into a bowl.It will take about 6 hours. This mixture can be used to prevent future problems. It takes about 18 hours to kill the larvae, but you can use 1/6 apple cider vinegar and 1/6 water.
Step 9: Sprinkle salt and lime over the affected areas.
Lime and salt can cause water pressure deficiency.Take 4 cup of lime and divide it by the amount of salt.Sprinkle the mix over the breeding areas. If they're not dying, apply more lime and salt. You can buy calcium-oxide lime at big-box stores.
Step 10: Put an open container of beer in the water.
Put the beer in a container that is close to the flies. In some cases, the beer attracts flies that crawl inside and drown in it.This is not a long-term solution for large-scale problems.Make sure the beer dish is easy to get to.Some people place lights next to the beer in order to attract the flies.
Step 11: It is a last resort to freeze maggots for at least 60 minutes.
Place the bag in the freezer after you put the smaller hordes into a dustpan. They should die about an hour in the freezer.Leave them in if they aren't dying.Once they're dead, throw them in the trash.
Step 12: You don't want to throw meat and fish in the garbage.
The flies breed in decaying meat and fish.Excess meat and fish should never be put in the trash.Excess bones and meat can be used to make meat stock.Add a few bay leaves and spices to a pot of boiling water and let it cook for at least an hour.Save some of the meat in the freezer until garbage day, then dump it all at once.If it's frozen, it won't spoil as quickly.Wrap meat and fish in paper towels before throwing them away.It will be difficult for flies to lay eggs if they can't get at them.
Step 13: The affected areas should be coated with essential oils.
The essential oils repel flies.Dilute 4 to 5 drops of any essential oil in a spray bottle filled with water and lightly spray affected areas. If you want to apply the mixture, you can spray a dry cloth with the oil.
Step 14: It's a good idea to clean your trash can once a week.
The water and water parts should be put into a bowl. After that, scrub the inside and outside of the trash can with a cloth. When you're done, wipe it down with a dry cloth and put a new bag in.Don't forget to clean your trash cans at least once a week.Garbage bags will keep bits and scraps of food out of your trash can. When you want to clean the trash, add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to your detergent.
Step 15: The garbage disposal needs to be cleaned.
If you have a garbage disposal, use pliers or tongs to remove food stuck in it.After that, pour a small amount of liquid bleach into a gallon of water and slowly dispose of it.When you use your garbage disposal, run it for a longer period of time. This will help make sure that the food is properly destroyed.Grease can get down your sink drain.
Step 16: As much as possible, keep affected regions dry.
It's best to take it away from maggots.Make sure your trash bags aren't leaking and wipe away the excess water that will make it to the bottom of the bin as soon as possible.Food preparation areas should be kept dry as often as possible. You can keep a few packets at the bottom of the trash.Silica is a natural absorbent.
Step 17: It is a last resort to place mothsballs near the affected regions.
There are orbs that are filled with pesticides. If you place 1 or 2 mothsballs in the vicinity of the affected areas, they can be effective at repelling and killing invaders. If you've tried all of the other methods, you should only use the balls. They should never be placed near food.
