In order to install programs and make changes to Windows settings, the Administrator account is required.If you use your own computer, chances are you have an Administrator account.You will need to log in as the Administrator in order to perform the administrative tasks you want.You can see Step 1 below.
Step 1: Safe Mode is where you should restart your computer.
Only the built-in Administrator account can be accessed from the Safe Mode login screen.Hold down the F8 key and restart your computer.From the startup menu, select Safe Mode.If you are the only user of your computer, chances are you have an Administrator account.You can double-check by opening the Control Panel.You can find your account by looking for the words "Computer administrator" in the account description.
Step 2: The administrator account is selected.
The user labeled Administrator will appear on the Welcome screen.To log in as the administrator, click it.If you don't have an Administrator password, leave the password field blank.You will need to enter an Administrator password before you can log in.
Step 3: Get your password.
If you have lost your Administrator password, you can use a recovery program to get it back.This guide will show you how to download and run OPHCrack, a password cracking tool.
Step 4: Go to the Windows Welcome screen.
Click Start if you want to log out or switch user.You can choose a user at the Welcome screen.If you are the only user of your computer, chances are you have an Administrator account.You can double-check User Accounts by opening the Control Panel.You can find your account by looking for the words "Computer administrator" in the account description.
Step 5: You can open the Windows NT login window.
To open the Windows NT login window, when you are on the Welcome screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice.
Step 6: The administrator account information can be entered.
If you created an administrator account, you have to log in.If a dedicated administrator account was never created, type "Administrator" into the "User name" field and leave the Password field blank.
