How To Make a Chair

You can buy the same chair at any store and it will look like it.It was boring. If you want to set yourself apart, bring your personality to your furniture and maybe save a few dollars while you're at it, look no further than wikiHow.The article covers beach chairs, dining chairs and shop stools.

Step 1: Take your materials.

You'll need a circular saw, 2x2s, 1x4s and a sheet of plywood. The saws can be rented from a variety of companies.

Step 2: The sides should be cut.

You will need to split the pieces into two long pieces.

Step 3: Put the sides together.

1 1/6" from the top and 2 1/3"from the bottom are what you need to drill into the posts. Both ends of the 1x4 boards have the same holes cut into them. The 37" posts have 15 1/3" from the bottom to the half-way point.Dowels can be inserted into the holes. To form the two sides of the chair, you need to fit all the pieces together. The side pieces should be flush with the short posts.Put the split 1x4s up from the bottom on either side piece and screw them into place.

Step 4: Get ready for the connections.

Two pieces of 1x4 are cut into three pieces.A 17x17" square is needed for the seat.Cut two corners of the board to make room for the back posts. One of the 1x4s is at the edge of a long side and the other two are from each side. The seat piece on the side has a notch. The seat piece should be marked with the locations of the 1x4 holes. There are also drill holes there. The pieces were created from the 1x4.The top of the short posts and the bottom of your tall posts have drill centered pilot holes.

Step 5: Put the chair back together.

The pieces were created from the 1x4.Put them in the 1x4 and into the seat back.Allow the glue to set.

Step 6: The back/seat combination should be inserted.

Glue the seat in place with the two side pieces below it and the back posts fit into their notch. The screws should be inserted into the center of the front posts.

Step 7: Make sure everything is in place.

Attach the front and back aprons with glue and then screw them into place through the pilot holes you made earlier. There are two more screws going through the seat and into the back apron.Corner brackets on the inside of the chair can be used to create an even stronger connect.

Step 8: Prepare the surface with sand.

Sand the enter surface of the chair. If you don't like the clean line look, you can round out the edges.

Step 9: You can paint the wood.

You can stain the wood or paint it.You're done when it's dry.Enjoy your new chair!

Step 10: You need to gather your supplies.

If the bolts are 45" wide, you'll need 5 yards of fabric for this project. You will need to fill the bean bag.You can either buy filling at furniture stores or make your own from cut up foam. You need a sewing machine, thread, scissors, and a measuring tape.To make a pattern, you can use paper or cardboard.

Step 11: Make a pattern.

A pattern can be made on paper and cardboard. You're going to make twelve rounded triangles with a height of 30 and a base of 20.First mark a straight line on a large piece of paper or cardboard.Measure 30 from the halfway point.Use math or a protractor to make sure your line is straight. The curve is from the 30" point to the end of the line. You can get it to the shape you want by folding it along the center line and then cutting it out.

Step 12: Cut the fabric.

You will need 12 triangles to get two of them onto each yard of your fabric. If you can, leave a half inch seam allowance around all of the edges. When you're ready, cut out the fabric.Measure twice, cut once.

Step 13: Put the halves together.

With the right sides facing, sew two triangles together along the bottom side. You have to do this until you have six panels.Three panels are put together along the long sides to form a single piece of fabric. This should be done for the remaining three panels.

Step 14: Attach the halves.

Take the two pieces of fabric and pin them together, then sew all the way around, leaving a 6 inch gap to fill the beanbag chair.

Step 15: The beanbag needs to be filled.

To turn the fabric, push it through the hole.By pouring your filling into the hole, you can now fill the bag.It needs to be comfortable.

Step 16: The hole should be closed.

To close the hole, use a whip stitch.Have fun with your new beanbag chair.

Step 17: The vertical section should be made.

Use a T joint to join a section of pipe. Both ends of the cap are in L joints. The piece should be the same as the first one.The L joint is closer to the T joint than the other side.Two12" pieces are made with a T joint at the center.Join at the upper ends with this piece. Before doing any trimming, the pieces should be dry fit.The end shape should be rectangular. The pieces can be trimmed if they don't fit together. The inside of the rectangle should be facing the long side T joints. The upper T joint needs to be adjusted, but it will be around a 45 degree angle from the long side.

Step 18: The joint should be created.

A section of pipe should be placed into the long side T joints and cap with a mirrored T joint.

Step 19: The horizontal section should be made.

The long sides should be the same as the vertical section. You can join the ends closest to the center T joint with an 18 inch section and the other end with 8 inch sections. You should have two rectangles, one inside the other, and joined at the third point.

Step 20: Measure for the angle you want.

The seat is between the horizontal section and the vertical section. The chair is on the long end of the horizontal section. The angle of the back and seat should be adjusted until you like it.Measure the distance between the T joints on the long sides.

Step 21: The back brace needs to be cut and inserted.

Attach a piece of pipe to the T joints.

Step 22: The sling needs to be created.

The space for you to sit down is created by a sling between the top part of the chair and the front edge. You can either use fabric or Duct tape to make this sling. It is a long section of fabric with tubes at either end that you can fit onto the pipe. You can either sew these tubes into place or use iron on velcro.

Step 23: Enjoy.

Your beach chair is done.Don't forget that you can change any of the measurements to make the chair larger or smaller.

Step 24: You can build a bench.

If you don't find what you're looking for, you can build any one of the benches found on wikiHow.

Step 25: There is a possibility that this is not the case.
