America has had a love affair with the cupcake since Carrie sank her teeth into a Magnolia bakery cupcake in a 2000 episode of Sex in the City. When cupcakes are made by the dozen, with love and great care lavished upon them, they deserve to be served in an elegant manner.A cupcake stand is a great way to hold many cupcakes at once, perfect for weddings, dinner party dessert, kids' parties and your workplace morning tea.Making your own is a lot of fun, even though you can buy them ready-made.
Step 1: There is a base layer.
It's ideal to have a platter or plate.
Step 2: You can find a pillar.
It needs to be tall, so a martini glass, wide brimmed glass or vase is ideal.
Step 3: There is a plate of a decent size.
The only layer you'll make is this one.
Step 4: The cupcakes are being served from the base layer.
It is best not to move this stand.
Step 5: The pillar object should be in the center of the platter or plate base.
Step 6: The plate layer should be added.
It is necessary to balance with care.
Step 7: The cupcakes should be placed on the top layer.
If you want to add the base layer but don't have enough cupcakes, just use the top layer as it draws the eye.
Step 8: A base can be created.
Use a flat piece of cardboard, plastic or a thick cutting board for the base.If it's solid and pretty, it can be any shape. There are stores that sell cake bases that can be used for a cupcake stand. These are usually wrapped in gold or silver foil and are very cheap to buy.
Step 9: If needed, cover the base.
Wrap the base in foil or wrapping paper to make it look better. This step isn't necessary if the base is in good shape.
Step 10: The layers can be chosen.
Plates and platters should be lightweight and strong. They should ideally decline in size as they go up the stand, so choose something like a dinner plate for the first layer, a side plate with the next layer and a cake plate in the final layer. You can match the plates or mix them up.Plates with pretty patterns won't matter. When you want a neutral look, plain white or silver platter is always a good bet.An unwanted CD is a clever item to use in the top layer. You can either leave it unwrapped or cover it with paper or fabric.
Step 11: The pillars should hold the layers.
You can have quite a bit of artistic license here.It is likely that whatever you choose will look nice. The item must not take up too much room on the plate, must be balanced, and must decline in size as it goes up the layers, just like the plates do.A glass, cup, eggcup, fabric-covered cleaned out can, vase, sugar bowl are some great examples of things to use as pillars between the layers.First pillar vase, second pillar glass, third pillar a sugar bowl, and final pillar an eggcup are examples of layers.
Step 12: The pillars and layers should be arranged.
The area where it will stay is where the base layer should be placed. The stand won't be moved. The first pillar should be added.Carefully balance the next layer.Adding pillars and balancing layers will continue. If something seems wobbly or uncertain, try a different pillar or layer object in its place.
Step 13: Add cupcakes.
The cupcakes should be placed on every layer of the stand.Wait for the oohs and aahs from your party guests.
Step 14: A base layer can be found.
A flat base layer has good strength and looks pretty.A platter, a dish, etc. These are nice choices.
Step 15: There are two cake stands.
They can either be the same size or different. The smaller stand is on top of the larger stand. If you want the stand to complement a table theme or your favorite tea set, you'll need to be more picky about the colors and patterns of the stands and base layer.Plain white and plain metals are safe. When the stands are pretty and heirloom quality, people don't mind eclectic placement.
Step 16: It's time to assemble.
You don't have to move the cupcake stand once it's assembled. The base layer should be placed down.Make sure the doilies are securely in place if you use them underneath. The first cake stand should be on the base.In the middle of the base layer, center the stand's leg.The first cake stand should be placed on the next stand. This should be the smallest of the two.Again, center it.Use the base layer and the two cake stand layers to fill cupcakes.Done.Don't be surprised if the cupcakes steal the show!
Step 17: The store has cake supplies.
Bakers use cake dummies to make wedding cakes and other decorative cakes. The cake boards are sold by cake supplies stores to hold heavy cakes for easy transportation. For a three-tired cupcake stand, you'll need: 3 cake boards in descending size 4 cake dummies, one pair larger than the other pair (note that you can substitute with like objects, such as an unwanted hat box and a large can, etc.)If you want to match your party theme or just choose a color or pattern that you adore, you can glue the ribbon in your choice of pretty wrapping paper.
Step 18: The cake dummies should be prepared.
The cake dummies should be Glued together.Allow it to dry.
Step 19: Pin the ribbon to the edge of the cake dummies.
Wrap it around the cake dummy until you reach the top.Keep it taut with a bit of glue here and there. When you reach the top of the cake dummy, secure the other end with another pin.You should repeat with the other cake dummy.
Step 20: The first cake board should be on the paper.
Take the pencil and draw around it.The other two cake boards should be done the same way.Take the paper shapes you drew and cut them out.
Step 21: The first cake board has glue on it.
Take care to evenly match the circle so that it covers the entire board. The cake boards should be repeated with the other two.
Step 22: Wrap the edges of the cake boards with ribbon.
Put glue in place. You may need to hold it for a while.
Step 23: The cake stand needs to be built.
The boards should be attached to the pillar cake dummies with double sided tape.First place the largest cake board down. The base of the first pillar should be covered with double sided tape.Press the pillar down when you find the center of the cake board.Place tape on the dummy.Find the center of the cake board and press the two together, facing the pillar's top.The next dummy and final layer should be repeated.
Step 24: You will be serving it from that location.
When there are no cupcakes on the stand, it's best to not move it until the cupcakes are in place. The cupcakes should be arranged around each layer.
Step 25: To remove crumbs, wipe down with a dry cloth.
To spot clean frosting or sticky crumbs, use a damp cloth. When the stand becomes rundown, you'll need to pull it apart, rewrap it, and wash the ribbon. If you are prepared to keep renewing the outer materials, try not to throw away the base materials.
